Mods can delete this if it's unneccessary, thought it might make sense to have a playoff thread for the Cuda rather than continuing on in that Barracuda thread. Not going to make one for each round or anything (if we even get past round 1), can just keep editing this one.

Reposting the practice lines from Sheng's article today:

Gushchin-White-Graf
Regenda-Bystedt-Duehr
Ostapchuk-Giles-Cardwell
Sabourin-Vanroboys-Vincent

Cagnoni-Frisch
Schuldt-Keane
Hache-Thompson

Sounds like Cuda may be in trouble for tomorrow's game with all the injuries...that's on top of a not-so-great record vs Ontario as it is. Yikes...

Even before the injuries, I would say this was going to be a tough series. It's winnable, but I've got no problem calling us the underdog in it.

Lot of our games against Ontario have been tight, we do have that going for us. But Ontario's also good at shutting down our offense when they've got a lead.

I’m curious who draws out of the lineup when Pots and Bords come back. That’s a solid top 9 and I doubt they want to break up the 4th line.

The D is the issue with this team. It would be so nice to have both Muk and Carlsson.

Once we get Carlsson back, I'm good. Which is hopefully game 2, I have no idea what the reason is for his absence is but it's a very poorly timed one. Mukhamadullin was always a luxury for the Cuda this season, I was not expecting to even have him for as long as we did.

But with Carlsson back, that's a very good six guys to have on D. Schuldt, Carlsson, Cagnoni, Thompson, Hache, Frisch. If we can't win with that group, I'd be pointing at things other than our personnel. That's a strong group on paper.

Feels crazy that with the league leading scorer out of the lineup McCarthy is playing Ostapchuk over Cheryshov and/or Musty. Woof.
Neither Chernyshov or Musty are good enough right now to beat out any of the Cuda. They will be better but they are not at that level yet.

You were the one I was thinking of when asking who would you take out of the lineup for Pots or Bords.

Right now? Cardwell. It's not because he's the worst guy in the lineup, far from it, it's because he's ice cold at the moment. 1 point in his last nine games, and it was a secondary assist on the final goal of our 8-3 rout last Friday.

Once Poturalski comes back, we can assess where we're at. I have no idea what to expect from Ostapchuk yet. If he's doing well, I'd start looking at Duehr. Hate to say it, but he's only got one point in his last 11 games, maybe being a new dad is taking a toll on him. But I've liked what I've seen from him more than Cardwell as of late.

(I thought you were being rhetorical with the forward question )

I wouldn't break up that 4th line but Ostapchuk is the easy one to pick on here.

We don't know if Musty or Chernyshov would produce or not (I think at least the latter would but no guarantees). But we do know Ostapchuk is an offensive black hole. Why not try out 2 guys who have a chance at giving you some scoring pop?

Obviously superior at what? Skating hard and looking like he's doing a lot without accomplishing much?

I don't know what games you've been watching if you think this.
Ostapchuk has 11 points in 15 AHL games this season which would be the 4th highest points per game on the Barracuda. You think he shouldn't be playing based on his performance on the Sharks 4th line? I must have missed Musty and Chernyshov tearing it up in the NHL this season.

I mean, let's see how Ostapchuk does down here. He did well with Belleville earlier this season. I'm interested to see how that third line is used.

I liked Chernyshov in his first game with us, wouldn't mind if they put him with Regenda again. Musty, eh. He needs some more time to get used to it in the AHL and I'm not sure this is the series to do it in.

It's a best two out of three series and there's so little margin for error. If we win, we'll probably keep it the same. If we lose, McCarthy's probably going to shake the whole lineup up.

Article about the Reign, couple big question marks for their lineup, guys who may be out due to injury: Charles Hudon, who is their leading scorer with 64 points in 67 games. And Aatu Jamsen, who has only scored 7 goals on the season but 4 of those were against us. That guy was a pain for us this season, he got injured in a game against us on 4/12.

Looks like they only sold tickets for one side of Crypto.com Arena.... and it's not the side the camera is pointed at. That's a choice.

Also, wait a sec, Donavan Houle is out there with Ostapchuk and Giles.

The lines are:

Graf-White-Cardwell
Regenda-Bystedt-Duehr
Ostapchuk-Giles-Houle
Vincent-Vanroboys-Sabourin

No Gushchin?
