Buffalo Bills Season over. Ow.

Can someone remind me why they don’t run back kick-offs anymore? I remember something about them moving the kick-off point up a bit so most go out the back of the end zone, but the Bills have received two returnable kicks. Is there a reason to not try running them rather than taking the touchback?
It is pretty rare to run it out of the end zone and if you do you rarely get farther than where you start on the touch back.

A touchback comes out to the 30 yard line now. It's usually a better option to take the ball on the 30 than to run it out and risk getting stopped short of the 30.

If he had missed that you might as well go for it on 4th down the rest of the game. You can’t be trading TD’s with FG’s
McDermott in the past against the Chiefs has always been extremely conservative in playcalling on 4th down decisions. Fine with this recent one but hopefully he's more aggressive later on
