Domination in this one. Don't know what was going on with the Eagles in this one but they did not look good. Abby PK was outstanding

Liked

Lekkeramaki - best I've seen him. Comfortably stayed in the play and looked dangerous. Like others had to overcome missing a lot of time while Abby was killing numerous penalties.

Felton - thought he moved the puck well and was making good plays deep in his end. Reminds me of Freidman in terms of his mobility and puck movement

Pettersson - showing a lot more willingness force the play up ice. Banged some and played with a high level of control and smarts. Did a good job on the PK as did Felton and others

Kudryavstev - real smart player. Makes the quick little play to stay out of trouble. Very good in reading the situation and moving up to facilate offense.

Wolanin - got better as the game went on. Looked good on the point on the PP.

Young - having a unexpectantly good year at this point. Had good rebound control for the most part in this game. Faced a lot of shots b/c of the penalty situation. Moving along at a .915 save rate.

Aman - didn't get any points but was controlling the play at many points. Has the puck on his stick more than any other player (always a good sign in any type of hockey). Pressured well on the forecheck and PK. Seems to having fun and constantly setting people up. Different than in the NHL were he seems to be pressing all the time and not playing with confidence.

Bains - got the first star but IMO more of scoresheet pick. Played well enough but some of the d-men and forwards carried a lot more of the load then Bains did.

Karlsson scored a couple and again showed a nose for going for the greasy goals in the crease. Had chances for more (see Aman) but didn't think he was that effective in the general run of the play.

Nice win and hopefully team is putting something together. Especially hope that Lekkermaki a can build of this effort.

Not that Sasson has been bad, and he has had limited minutes, but Aman is likely the better version of a fast, defensively responsible 4th line option for the big team.

Also would like to see Karlsson get another shot with Vancouver once he is back up to speed. He has been unlucky to have been injured while Miller/Boeser have been out, since he likely would have been one of the first call-ups.

With Karlsson back healthy, once he gets a few games in, I absolutely think he’ll get a look up here. Tocchet really liked him last season.

I liked him in his few games last year as well. If he had better foot speed he would already be a solid NHLer, but the combination intelligence, work ethic (especially along the boards), and some in-tight scoring skill is good enough if he can be paired with a center who skates well enough to cover the ice for him. Suter-esque player, with slightly better size and a little less skill.

Wolanin walks the line and beats Kevin Mandolese from the point blocker side. Power play goal.

So does Karlsson get benched for the rest of the game, and maybe the next game? Because there's no difference at all between Klimovich's penalty last night and what Karlsson just did at the end of the period.
