When you look at things Klimovich is 21 and Lekkermaki 20. Right now, Klimo looks far more dangerous at this level and way more involved in the play. Plays he is making is what you might expect from Lekkeramki

Not getting down on Lekkermaki and that year does make a difference but it's interesting how much Lekkermaki is seen as the much better prospect.

Other factor is the Klimo can take take care of himself physically.
Now if Klimovich would cut out the self-defeating/team-defeating stuff. He was having a solid game and then just a bonehead penalty, by my count the fourth one this season.

Lekkerimaki is 18 months younger than Klimovich which makes a substantial difference at that age but he definitely needs to up his skating speed, strength and consistency of effort. He's made minimal impact in the last four or five games. At least he plays fairly sensibly even when he's not going well.

I think that's say more about Klimovich's play so far this season rather than a knock on Lekkerimaki's game. I'd expect Lekkerimaki's game to pick up as he's got more time to work in NA.

Abbotsford with a couple of close-in chances early but no goal, Aman whiffed on a great opportunity.

Lekkerimaki misses a defensive play near the boards on a San Jose rush, boom, it's 6-3.

Careless play by Aman in the offensive zone led to the rush.

Is Klim playing himself into being a legit prospect now?
If he can learn to use his body and hit I can see him making it. He's got the same frame as Joshua so it would be nice if he can utilize it like Joshua and grow a little meaner. Also would be nice if he can plant his ass a bit better in front of the net. If he can do that, I can see him develop into a role player.

Klimo should have put that back hand in.

Is it just me or is Bains doing absolutely nothing?
That was a tough one for Klimovich, difficult to get the right stick position to get it on target.

This is the fourth straight game for Bains with Abbotsford where he hasn't looked very good.

I know that Wolanin has that pedigree of playing on the 1st unit as the lone d, and it's also not like he's play bad on the first unit. But, it does say something that right when Kudryavstev comes on the ice they score. Not to say that Kudryavstev did much on that play.

All the praise on Klimovich and then he takes a two minute highsticking penalty.

Four minutes... and he wasn't even on the ice during the preceding play??!! Did he get into it with someone at the bench?

EDIT: Was an incidental high stick on a good hustling backcheck as San Jose was close to getting a 3-on-0 break. Linesman must've notified ref because play continued for a long time with Abbotsford having control.

An empty net goal finishes the scoring. 7-4 San Jose. Good news is that Pettersson played well and Kudryavtsev was alright, too. Klimovich with a mostly solid effort but an undisciplined penalty led to the goal that turned the tide.

Heavy forecheck had the Abby defense looking over their shoulders and Tolopilo fell apart. Seems to lose it if he gives up a softie and then he begins to unravel.

Klimovich had some bad and undisplined penalties and that ruined otherwise good game.

Thought Felton and McWard got exposed in this game.

PP was no good and the PK very bad. Not a good combination.

Abby vets, outside of Aman, were again of little use. Had to make an effort to see Bains and Smith was particularly poor ... again.

Thought Aman was good in the last couple of periods. I think he is the best player on this team and significantly better than Bains

Team had a good road trip and now gets a break. Hopefully getting some players back

Who is closer to the NHL, dpetey or Kk
They are both on the right track, it's hard to differentiate the two. If there were a callup and one of them had to play NHL minutes right now I'd pick Kudryavtsev. To me, he's the much calmer out of the two. Pettersson can have his little brain farts. Kudryavtsev is much more likely to give you a steady 14 minutes with minimal adventures at this moment, in my opinion.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if next year both of them are taking turns rotating in and out of the Canucks lineup playing some limited minutes. Much like what they are doing to the forwards this season.

I agree, they need to bring in some better forwards. With Raty in the NHL, they should really think of bringing in another scoring center and some better grittier bottom 6 forwards.

Okay, so only one undisciplined penalty by Klimovich. It's funny, someone had a posted a video of the game in 1991 where Pat Elynuik took a highsticking penalty that wasn't noticed by the referee but the linesman called it once play had stopped. I remembered that, and checked back through the preceding minute of play before Klimovich's 4-minute highsticking penalty. It was actually on a good backchecking effort by Klimovich as three San Jose players broke in; he hustled back and dove to thwart a pass attempt but then his stick just incidentally flew up when he hit the ice and caught the San Jose player in the face. Announcer didn't know what had happened, either.

Yep, it's a good idea to have three guys with skill who can play centre. If one is hurt or called up, you want that other guy to step into the 2C role.

The bottom-six forwards haven't done badly on the whole. Bigger problem has been in the top six-- combo of injuries/callups reducing available talent levels, plus some guys just not playing to their capabilities.
