This serious team is seriously behind a half dozen other teams in the playoffs this year. They're going to fail just like always, on cue, on schedule, and will still sign Marner to a ridiculous contract after. They're not that good, I've seen them lots.
Well we played the exact same number of games as every other team in the league, and ended up 4th overall. We also had our share of injuries... Matty missed 15 games, Mcabe missed 16, Tavares mcmann and domi 7 each, woll early in the season and we played our 3rd a 4th stringers a few times. Frankly we've looked like crap some nights and still won a boring game... which always seemed to happen against us when we were more run and gun. Guess we'll see what happens but I don't think this team is "seriously behind" anyone in this league when we're rolling...

Won the Atlantic but not that good?
not that good but for the final 3 months of the season they had the following numbers:

22-7-2 (2nd in points%)
3.61 goals/game (4th in NHL)
2.65 goals against/game (8th in NHL)
30.8% PP (2nd in NHL)

Their major weakness is the penalty kill, but beyond that the team is pretty damn good

You just know every call in this series is going to make people go ballistic. i can't wait for the first controversial goal, offside call, icing, the missed penalty. It's going to be fun.

Exactly. And people are saying this thread is wild now...

l've also seen your team lots, and they're nothing special either.

No, they're not special at all. They're good. And good enough to beat this "juggernaut" of the Leafs with proven chokers up front and mediocre group behind the blue line. Stolarz is gonna have to win a few games in a playoff series on his own or they're going to lose, and that's something he's never done before at the tender age of 31.

Ottawa in 6

Oh you've had injuries? I didn't know that only Toronto has had this significant adversity to overcome.

And you can't possibly believe that teams like Tampa, Florida, Dallas, or Colorado aren't far better picks to win the cup. And if 4th overall is such a significant accomplishment, then there's 3 other teams I didn't even name that can be added to that list.

Toronto is a good team but it's laughable to put them as a cup contender until they ever make it out of the 2nd round - and that's highly unlikely this year

Nice strawman, at no point did I bring up anything about pride? Also Metro Toronto is not a larger city than New York, Chicago or Los Angeles. But yes I am grateful to have a team with a dedicated and large fanbase.

I thought it was hilarious because hockey fans and virgins on this website always cry about Maple Leafs attention yet they always come into these threads and participate non-stop, like yourself who is not even a fan of either team.
Huh.

What I'm saying to you is: The reason so many people are Leafs' enthusiasts is because Toronto is the largest urban area in Canada (US cities aren't comparable as hockey isn't front-page news), not because of the Leafs' staggering recent history of success.

If the Leafs were based in any urban area of Canada (well, other than Montreal), your team would, based on its futility over the past half century, have the smallest volume of fan interest.

I guess if the team can't win, certain types of fans are left to take pride in the size of its urban area. So, congratulations on being in a large city, I guess.

As for me, I scanned this thread because I'm interested to see how the Senators do this spring. I have no interest in the current edition of the Leafs.

Does anyone know how many goals Ovechkin has scored since the Ottawa senators last won a playoff game?

I Think there's something wrong with you dude. You turned this into a discussion about fan demographics and a geography lesson, it's not that deep and at no point was I claiming 'pride' or boasting about the number of Leaf fans, that's an assumption you made.

I've got no interest in continuing this discussion, you do you.

1-If Toronto having a mediocre group behind blueline, sens had an awful one because i'm taking leafs D anytime before sens D... Sens D = is Sanderson... leafs D is much more balanced and much harder to play against

2-Did i missed the time Ulmark had been able to make the difference and won game by his own in playoff... At 31 he never did it of his life, same as Stolarz....

A few pages back I said every forum has a buzzkill poster. Wanna guess who it is?
Oh, I'm pretty sure every single person on HF Leafs knows who it is my guy.
Who wins isn’t important.
That is literally the only thing that is important.
This is a referendum on Marner and Matthews and whether they can compete in the playoffs.
If this team loses this series to Ottawa then Matthews and Marner are both gone, the latter immediately and the former either when his contract expires in a few years or before. Lose and we nuke this shit from orbit and rightfully so. It would have to be a retool until we have our 1sts back and then a total demolition. This is the best chance we are ever going to get but Ottawa absolutely can take us down here. If they do, it's over for this whole group.

Leafs have probably their best team with the actual core, but are they really more proven than the Sens young team. Less experience for sure but that core won 1 round in 9 years. The pressure will be at it's peak this year for them. Sens might be the team that break the core up for Leaves. Sens always match up well against them saying that the Sens play them like it's Stanley cup is maybe fair but could say same for leaf player they love to play against us cause of the rivalry .Leafs fan hate losing vs the Sens it's the same for the players.

Am feeling it's revenge time for us, reverse flashback from early 20's.

All in all hope we win and it's should be one of the best series of this round.GOSENSGO!

I'd take the Sens D and it's not close.

Sanderson is clear cut ahead of everyone on both teams. The gap between him and the next best D on either team stretches multiple Max Domi foreheads. His partner is also Zub who is a solid top 4.

Chabot is playing the best hockey of his career and has a solid partner in Jensen.

Bottom pairing is young and inexperienced and is definitely the weakest link.
