Points are the measuring stick. A system isn't just a system, it includes talent, desire, health, luck and serendipity. Nobody cares what anyone else thinks is going to happen. What actually happens is all that counts, the rest is predictive farting.

He's playing to his strengths.

They just won their division for the first time in 24 years. You don't think it might be a little different this time around?
I saw the way the team played to get Matthews his 400th goal and the way they celebrated getting Marner his first 100 point season.

These aren't serious players.

They are also the engine of your offense. Yes, agreed, rest of the team is better, but if these guys don't show up you are wasting a world of ice-time on them, and that's beyond exploring Marner's incredible anti-clutch factor.

You're right. They've only made the playoffs every year since Matthews joined the league. Not serious whatsoever.

Speaking of players not showing up, you can look at your own team. Don't worry about them celebrating Brady's 400th goal.

The Capitals core with Ovechkin failed for 12 years, then they succeeded. Not sure why that season was any different, but it was.
They still managed to win a few series here and there, which is very different. Was it 12 years?

This is a good first step for Ottawa, but they are a couple of years away from making an impact in the playoffs. I think this series will include some very close (including OT) games, but I don't see Ottawa winning more than one game.

Yes, can you see the leafs not losing 4? I can't.

Regular season is different from the playoffs. Matthews and Marner are definitely skilled enough to lead a team to the playoffs, but aren't serious enough to dig in when it matters.

Think of Florida losing to Tampa the year they won the President's trophy; shipping out Huberdeau for Tkachuk before winning the cup the following year.

I've cheered you guys on in the past because I have some great Leafs fans in my life. I've seen this story over and over again. Matthews and Marner are jokers and are not good for one another.

A Sens fan lecturing us on playoffs when your own team hasn't made them in 7 years. Interesting.

They got Matthew Knies now. He drags them into the fight

And then Marner barely plays his man Pastrnak as he blasts by him to score the OT series-wining GWG.

The big boys ARE the problem. They have still yet to prove they aren't.

And why haven’t the senators been able to even make the playoffs until this year? What happened last year?

How many of those little mistakes did ottawas ‘big boys’ have to make to shit the bed on an entire season they way they did last year?

They still do them. They just had Ullmark covering their mistakes all year. Too bad he sucks in the playoffs

Wasn't Matthews' 400th goal an empty netter?
