And then Marner barely plays his man Pastrnak as he blasts by him to score the OT series-wining GWG.

The big boys ARE the problem. They have still yet to prove they aren't.
they were not the only issue....idk what you were expecting Matthews and Nylander to do in the press box

the team around them is much more improved now. My point was they Should be able to beat Ottawa even if the stars produce same results as previous years

As a Leaf fan, I just have no faith. Been here too many times with these players.

Congrats Ottawa and I look forward to seeing the ridicule from other fan bases.
I feel you dude, I really do. But no need to worry for the first round. Ottawa is just happy to be there. Brady will be in the stands cheering his brother on by the time Florida’s 4th game begins.

No. They have the ghost of not being able to make it at all. Some act like the Sens will just turn on a switch and the series is over.
Oh really? Well, the playoffs and the regular season is just different, ask any Leafs fan for example, they should know that best!

I think the series will be quite tight and exciting, hoping for 7 games!

Things have changed. New owner, new GM, new coach. All things that have been dragging the Sens down.

The Leafs lose every year in the playoffs because Matthews and Marner refuse to show up or actually put in the effort to succeed. Why should we expect any different this year?

Marner already has one foot out the door.

Marner's looking to get paid big time. I doubt very seriously he'll mail it in.

To be fair.....they were missing Nylander and Matthews for half the series & almost won with f*cking samsanov. All for blaming the big boys but they weren't the only issue last year.

Now leafs have much better goaltending, better coach, better D and overall tougher team to play against. This ain't the Dubas leafs no more
Yupp, I agree with you on their overall team D and goalies, as I mentioned :)

Still think what they failed with the most, scoring goals, has been fixed though!

I feel for honest non trolling fans who have had their souls crushed so many times. We have all been there.

Here's hoping for a truly exciting and entertaining series.

I think we’re in for one hell of a show. Hoping for Leafs in 6 but wouldn’t be surprised if it goes the distance or Ottawa wins. They are a very good team that plays us well. There’s never an easy matchup for the Leafs in the playoffs.

I'll take Berube's playoff record over Green's any day. Anyone with half a functioning brain would.
nice goalpost move from describing the 2 systems.
It’s gone from points to playoff records now 😒.
FYI playoff records also not a system.

One difference with that Senators team is Yashin gave up since he'd already been paid for the year. I doubt the Leafs have anyone who will pull that nonsense.

Leafs in 3.

Yashin was actually playing for a contract. He was an upcoming free agent. His rights were traded that summer for #2 pick and Chara and muckalt and the the islanders gave him like a 10 year, 90 million contract or something that summer.

Which is similar to how Marner, the Leafs leading scorer, is also looking for a new contract and also has a reputation for not doing enough in the playoffs.

A lot of similarities. Obviously some differences too. Again, I'm not saying this means Ottawa wins...

Points help you reach the playoffs. A good system allows you to get points. I know it's difficult for you to understand, but stay with me here.

Funny one,
I’m out until you actually come back with something to do with actual systems.,

Ok guys, here’s our system for this year, let’s gets more points 😂.

So what's Ottawa's record-breaking system? They finished with less points.

Our goaltending is better, other than that we are largely the same. We actually have less depth scoring than past seasons (which has been one of our main issues in elimination games) as our top 5 scorers have accounted for a higher percentage of our overall goals despite Matthews having the biggest offseason of his career. I’ll believe in this bigger and better team once I see it with playoff results.

Any coach is an upgrade over Keefe in the playoffs. That man played a completely cooked TJ Brodie and Gio all year and made them guys he would rely on in the playoffs when it was more than clear these dudes were done. Also loved to keep playing Holl in important roles despite him being on the ice for literally 75% of the goals against. Constantly going back to Samsonov despite him looking extremely shaky the entire time and only switched goalies when he was desperate and had no other answers.

Ottawa in 6, Toronto and their fanbase is in for a rude awakening with Brady and Linus carrying the load

As a Leaf fan since 1970, I've had almost nothing but rude awakenings, I think we will survive but if I'm trying to as objective as I possibly can, I like what we got cookin' this year. Have I thought so before? Yes absolutely but there are some key factors I like this year over the previous 8 years

Tanev/Carlo/OEL vs Lyubushkin/Liljegren/Edmonson/Brodie
Stolarz/Woll vs Samsonov/Campbell/Andersen
Berube vs Keefe

Saw the epic fumble of 2021, the 2013 brutal collapse, the big cheat of '93, the back to back sweeps by those awesome Hab teams 77/78 and 78/79 and all losses in between. Leaf nation will survive a loss to the Sens but I like this iteration of the Matthews era better than the previous 8. Same core but not the same team. I hope the Sens take the Leafs as lightly as the Sens fans and Leaf haters do. But yeah losing in the 1st round 7 out of 8 years = Sens beating the Leafs, sure thing. Definitely no possibility of a rude awakening for intoxicated Sens fans

Who'd you rather have, Chief or Travis Green?

I mean, the Leafs are carried by the same core that have failed them for 8 years now, so I’m not sure why this year would be any different. Some better D and goalies, but their problem in last years playoffs was that they couldn’t score, and I’m not sure how that has been fixed?

Main difference is the system. Berube plays a system that will score in the playoffs. Keefe didn't

Lol, so you can’t describe the systems, FYI points isn’t a system.
Points are the measuring stick. A system isn't just a system, it includes talent, desire, health, luck and serendipity. Nobody cares what anyone else thinks is going to happen. What actually happens is all that counts, the rest is predictive farting.

The Capitals core with Ovechkin failed for 12 years, then they succeeded. Not sure why that season was any different, but it was.
