That’s the biggest difference with this year’s team. Bozo The Keefe is such a terrible coach in every aspect.

Compare his pre game speeches to Berube’s pre game speeches.

Telling the room to “relax…just breathe…have fun with it…” Are you kidding me? That’s something a junior league coach would tell some peewee age kids.

Insane Keefe lasted so long. I know NJ hasnt had Hughes the last quarter but the dude barely coached the Devils into the playoffs this year. Hes mediocre at best yet somehow lasted here for 5 years. Should have been canned after the MTL series but he had his best friend as his boss.

So glad we have Berube. Sheldon was a decent guy, but the experiment had to end.

I doubt the Leafs will have much rispek for Ottawa when they send Brady to his early tee time. They shouldn't anyway.

If you think that is true, then all the chatter about the Leafs inevitable collapse is also 100% true. The guy wipes out even when nobody is around him because he lives on his skate edges. Hasn't been called for embellishment in 3 years, but every time he goes down it makes the baby Brendan Gallagher cry.

He draws a lot of penalties because he goes into traffic at high speed and gets around guys, or wins board battles and skates away cleanly. Always keeps his feet moving. Tkachuk draws a lot because he's hard to handle physically and also yaps at anyone who's dumb enough to take a penalty. Batherson and Greig draw a lot too.

To draw a penalty, the trick is to fight through the infraction and keep trying to play. If you don't work like this in the playoffs, you'll never get a call when they're already rare to come by, plus you'll be behind the play since you gave up when things got tough.

Speaking of lessons, that's one other teams learn from playing the Leafs in the playoffs since they fold so easily

It's possible I suppose.

In 81 games so far this season, the refs have called the penalties:

Evenly in 20 of the games - about 25% of the time.
Leafs have had more PPs than the opposition in 23 games - about 28% of the time.
Leafs have had less PPs than the opposition in 38 games - about 47% of the time.

Why do Berube's speeches only work one year (not even a full year) with a hot goalie and great team and every other year he failed?

Is he losing the room early or is the team forgetting his systems?

Also, if a player needs a speech to get excited about the game, they shouldn't be in the NHL, seems like someone who never played serious hockey wrote this.

Nicknames like "Bozo the Keefe" is not only terrible but makes you sound like either a geriatric or a pre-teen.

Can you break down Berube's playing style and why it is such an amazing system? Also, please reference how it compares to his only successful season in St. Louis, it would really help to compare the two coaches.

It will be a cold day in hell when some posters (you are in that group) actually credit the Leafs is what the point is. There will always be some negative even in a sweep, it would be spun as a bad thing (like too much rest is bad we will not be ready for game 1 type crap)
