If the Ottawa Senators answer to the Knies-Matthews-Marner line is going to be Shane Pinto, my confidence level is going to go through the roof.

No, it will be Pinto, Grieg, Amadio, Sanderson, and Zub on the ice every time when Ottawa has last change. They may not shut down that line completely, but your confidence will definitely take a beating and it's entirely possible that match up will end up even.

I have full confidence that group will do their job and Leaf fans won't understand why their guys aren't scoring like they think they should. "OMG WHY CAN'T THEY SCORE AGAINST THAT UNKNOWN PINTO"

If that matters, than so does Sanderson being -11 on the year no?
It would matter if you made that argument in a complete vacuum without any context whatsoever.

As it turns out, we can look to season stats for some insight!

Sanderson was a -11 when paired with Travis Hamonic in a little under 400 minutes this season.

For the season, Sanderson is:

22nd in xGF at 9.2 (no leaf in the top 60, lol)

16th in Goals with 11 (Morgan Reilly is the top Leaf at 51st with 7 goals)

10th in Pts with 55 (Morgan Reilly is the top Leaf at 25th with 41 pts)

Interpreting Stolarz giving praise when directly asked about Ottawa as being “worried” is hilarious.

Have you ever watched a scrum before? Every team in the league gets praised by their opponent.

Sure, but it's pretty rare to see them go into specifics like this. It should be especially concerning considering this is specific to a style of play often seen in the playoffs. Not to mention the fact that he played for the Panthers last year, who are the masters of this style of play, and won the cup because of it.

You guys keep quoting the entire season when what matters is how they are playing right now. Why not quote their record since the TDL? This is what you guys keep missing. How they look as they finally fully understand the system and the finishing touches are on the roster.
You said that earlier and I responded, never heard back from you.
It was the post you said they were 15-2 since TDL.
When actually it was,

Senators 13-5-2
Leafs 13-5-1

Something, something leafs fans thinking they will have some playoff success with their heartless core. Same thing happened every year with this group. The leafs fans cried sweet bitter tears.

See, I can do it as well.

They’re already asking who they play after Ottawa.

One is a juggernaut and the other is “limping into the playoffs”.

This playoff thread on HF is by far the most active. Over 1K posts already! Let the hate flow

I know it's been a long time since Senators fans have seen playoff hockey but lol.

Marchand gave the Leafs verbal oral pre-series last year and throughout. Jon Cooper has many quotes over the years about how great the Leafs are.

It's not special

Oh I know. Especially when it comes to the handshake line.

I guess it depends who you play against. In the past, our opposition in the playoffs called our coach a fat bug eyed walrus.

None leaf fans have more respect for the leafs D than their goalies. Leaf fans may not like it, but the general feeling from NON LEAF fans is that your goalies are a creation of the D
It’s not quite true. And last night was good example of that. Buffalo is all offense and they created several good chances especially off the rush. Stolarz stopped them all, but there were few situation when he either got help on rebounds or box out to see the shots. Unlike in the past when our goalies would rarely get help on consistent and/or high level basis.

One is the division winner and the other has missed the playoffs for 7 straight seasons (and did so disastrously last season) and limped into a wild card spot

Sens needed a miracle to make the playoffs

End of the day, our goalies are stopping pucks who cares if it is the D or the goalies probably a blend of the two
