correct me if im wrong but when the leafs were playing the caps then the caps had some playoff success (like a few rounds)

the shit talking from both sides aside the leafs performance in the playoffs other teams have confidence, you can sub in ottawa with anyone. Until leafs prove it otherwise thats how opponents are going to be
The Capitals had underperformed and failed to take that step for years and were clowned on a lot. People doubted Ovechkin and said he'd never win until he did. I'm saying the difference is Leafs fans knew we were underdogs and didn't talk shit to the Capitals fans acting like we'd win, only to fall back on the 'we were just happy to be here!' card.

And yeah, the Leafs could be playing the Ducks in the first round and there'd be the same people here talking shit and voting for the Ducks to win.

Truthfully. Think about this. Nylander is rushing the pick up ice and in front of him he sees one or two of these guys. Do you think he’s scared? Afraid in any sense?

Hopefully they take them a bit more serious than you do. Pinto and his line have been great in a shutdown role this year, that’s evident in games against Toronto too. In 23 min of 5v5 TOI against vs Pinto, Matthews was on the ice for 3 shots. Toronto had 3 shots on goal when Matthews was on the ice with Pinto. Just 10 min of TOI vs Nylander but outshot 8-4. Pinto and his line did well against Toronto’s stars.

Playoffs are different animal and prep is much more detailed but you can guarantee that Toronto is preparing to avoid that match up and/or looking to find ways to break through against that match up.

A good comparable is the Leafs first playoff round in 2017 against Washington - do you think Leafs fans were talking shit to Capitals fans and voting that they'd win?

I mean, this is post #4 in your preview thread.

Leafs in 6. You heard it here!!!

Caps are gonna CHOKE!

I don't buy this "we were once humble nice guys" schtick.

Part of this thread is learning about the other team.

One of the keys in the minds of Sens fans towards pulling the upset is whether our shutdown line can be as effective as they've been over the past few months.

Either they will, and you will figure out who these guys are, or they won't, and they will simply be outmatched by the high-end skill of the Leafs big guns.
I’ve watched more Sens games than 95% of this board, and probably 90% of the sens fans here. If I had to truly guess, I’d say I’ve watched 65ish Sens games this year. I know who the good players are and who the shutdown guys are.

My best friend is a Sens fan, and we watch/discuss almost every game. I also have 5 screens going in my sports room lol.

I wasn’t talking about that. Erik Alfredsson made it seem like our team should be scared of running into those guys like they’re some sort of powerhouse tough guys.

Yeah I can't speak for the thousands of Leafs posters here, lol. Sort of wild you think I meant literally every single Leafs fan but good job on the research. You also managed to find one of the Leafs fans that a lot of us call out, well done. Collectively we didn't expect to make the playoffs or win and were friendly with Caps fans, I still remember talking to some of them outside the ACC after Game 6.

You've got to be pretty clueless and naive to think that Leafs fans aren't collectively scarred and pessimistic about this core's failures in the playoffs.
Lol. You clearly don't talk to a lot of Sens fans buddy.

It's like having a discussion with a manic depressive and having the gall to complain that you dented your new Beamer.

Since you watch so much hockey can you explain why the Leafs have an almost indentical record to Ottawa’s since December 1st despite having the better top-six, better bottom-six, better first pairing, better second-pairing, and better goalie?

Ok, now show me the legions of Senators fans who are being disrespectfully cocky?

I think most Sens fans acknowledge that the Leafs are the favourites and are hoping for an upset.

What is so crazy about that?

i can definitely see how the people hedging their bets would be annoying

for myself personally this is the one matchup where i believe ottawa has a solid chance. Im happy sens finally made the playoffs (the melnyk years seemed longer then they actually were lol) but im not going to fall back on the happy to be here card. Its a rivalry matchup even if leafs were playoff juggernauts there isnt anything to fall back on

Stutzle immediately getting on the ice for the PP after having a "life threatening injury"

You could also substitute Ridley Greg.

I dunno, lots of Sens fans in here and based on my experience on these boards lots of them that live in Leafs threads. Summer of Pierre. The list goes on.

I mean, do you not think it's a bit silly that the poll here is almost 50/50? I get that it's a lot of non-Sens fans voting but come on.

I would imagine the Leafs will be chasing a hard matchup of 1st line against 1st line as well. I think who wins the coaching matchup will be important as well and isn't being talked about much.

Its a shame you had to destroy your credibility this early into things. The series doesn't even start until Sunday.

Leafs are a clear cut favorite and should win. But being this hockey illiterate is more or less a true representation of your fanbase. You guys dont watch any other teams, even if they are playing your team. Not hockey fans, leaf fans.

I hope you read the post I was replying to. Because apparently Jake Sanderson is better than Borje Salming.

Well, better pack it in fellow Sens fans.

This guys watched like, 80% of the games we've played this year.

I doubt any Sens fan has watched so much Sens hockey this year.

Not great playoff numbers for Ulmark while playing behind better teams than Ottawa. Leafs are going to rip this guy apart

How much of that is due to the fact that the Leafs are not very well-liked by a lot of neutral fans and how much do you think is due to the fact that the Leafs have won a single round in 8 straight playoff appearances?
