Bro, they just care about the maple leafs. This is how it is every year in every leaf series lol

In the past few pages there seem to be as many posts from Leaf fans talking about how "Everyone hates the Leafs, this thread is super long" as there are from other posters talking about the Leafs or the series.

Series hasn’t even started yet and you guys are already bitching about the referees.

What a shocker!
To be honest, it's just scary the propensity the Sens have for getting PPs and the Leafs have for taking penalties. This could be a 5 a game easily for the Sens.

The PP opportunities will likely just end up a wash by the end of the series. Refs hate giving a team an "advantage" in the playoffs.

What usually happens is a PP or two is given out at key moments in the game, and then they throw a few the other way late in the 3rd, often when the game is out of reach, to try and even up the number of powerplays.

The refs usually call a tight game in the first round. And put the whistles away a little more every round until the final.

I think I recall people saying that this may be more anecdotal these days, and that the number of PPs in the playoffs doesn't actually diminish in the opening round.

I'm sure someone with a more statistical inclination could look it up, but I'm pretty positive I've seen this discussion a few times and was quite surprised myself.

And if/when they lose this series? Honest question.

I think he has to be shown the door right? I would consider keeping Berube but I think you gotta blow up the core and admit the Shaniplan is a failure, right?

I'm not saying scorched earth rebuild but more than a little retool...

Media/fan pressure will probably stop enough fundamental changes from happening, which is likely the fundamental problem.

IF and it is a massive IF because we are talking fantasy land at this point, Shanahan is in the last year of his contract with the FO and so is Marner and Tavares. I think the writing is on the wall what would happen

This is a good first step for Ottawa, but they are a couple of years away from making an impact in the playoffs. I think this series will include some very close (including OT) games, but I don't see Ottawa winning more than one game.

This will probably be a very good series. I look forward to watching it. With Tkachuk, Pinto and Grieg, Ottawa is quite a gritty team with enough talent as well. I could see them giving a hard time to the leafs, even though I think the leafs are going to be a better playoff team this year than they have been in the past.

I hope it's a long series. I would prefer an OTT win. I believe Leafs in 6 with tight scrappy games.

Are you a Leafs or Sens fan? Because if you are I don't know how you couldn't have missed watching this playoff rivalry that was probably the best one in the early 2000s where the teams and their fan bases actually hated each other and the passion and intensity was off the charts.

Why would he "miss" crushing defeats, epic collapses, soul-crushing failures and years long misery?

Playoff Matthews, Knies, McMann, Tanev

The Leafs have the grit to match now

If this series does not really awaken the leafs stars nothing will. I think the leafs are going to love this spot light and come out heavy. I love Ottawa and I am so happy to see them back in the playoffs. The Sens are not going to be an easy out but I think Toronto is more ready for this than they have ever been.
I hate to concede that I still hate the leafs. Good luck to all
Man this is gonna be wild

I don't think he was wrong. You'll only like opinions that are pro leafs lol.

I have yet to see you like a comment that says stuff about how the sens are better than the Leafs in factor X or Y.

Very biased.

I usually always compliment the other team. It's just that outside of the penalty kill, the Leafs are the superior team top to bottom. If this was this Sens team 3 years from now with more experience I would say it is a lot closer
