Hot take. Montreal and Ottawa only in po because Boston and NY teams especially NYR had off year and missed the mark completely.
I mean, not really a hot take. I agree. Especially the NYR should have been in the playoffs easy. But that's how it goes. It gives an opportunity to two teams to show what they can do in the playoffs!

As for this series... Please, Leafs, make it easier on yourself for once and don't go to a game seven.

Toronto in 6.

I disagree completely the Rangers are an average team with an elite goalkeeper that's all. The Sens have a better team top to bottom then the Rangers. How many Sens game have you watched this season?

Logically, one would think that Toronto should win this series. Toronto has been the better overall club all season, and has been pretty consistently good. Toronto has several important veterans, some very much still in their prime, who are playoff experienced.

But...

Late in the season, since March 1st, Ottawa has been third overall at .717, and Toronto fifth at .682. Some of that can be accounted for by Ottawa's desperation to qualify, but it suggests that heading into the playoffs at least, the two clubs are on pretty even ground.

Then, there's the whole history of playoff chokes by the Leafs' current core, not to mention the usual massive pressure of the world's biggest single-team hockey fanbase crushing them under its scrutiny. Springtime is not friendly to this franchise. When the leaves are out... the Leafs are out.

So, I dunno. I sort of think Ottawa might do it.

Literally all of their players aside from 2 or 3 have had bad years compared to the previous two. That includes Shesterkin. It's almost the same team that won the President's Trophy last year. They even added JT Miller.

I'm sorry, but they should have won their division or at least gotten an easy divisional slot. Not throwing shades at Ottawa.

Last 60GP TOR 78 points. OTT 76 points. Ottawa has been playing good hockey for most of the season. They’ve found an identity as a defensive team that grinds out wins. I think they are well suited as an underdog but any potential upset is going to be hard fought.

Your D is as strong as your weakest link. We learned that in seasons past. Leafs would normally have 2-4 mediocre D and that costed them every time. This year is different in the way that they had Benoit, Reilly, McCabe, but added Hakanpaa (injured), OEL, Tanev. And shipped out unreliable Ds. Then they added Carlo who was nothing short of fantastic for Leafs. That rounded up defence to 5 guys who are big and could easily be #2-#3 on condensers. And there are extra guys that played very well as well. So as it stands there is no weak link on D and no pair that could be exploited.
From what I watched from Sens their forwards like to go to front of the net fishing for rebounds. Well, I feel they would not be allowed to stay there and would quickly find themselves on their asses.
Leafs D is not flashy, doesn’t pinch, goes back as soon as there is turnover, but limits hsc, blocks tons of shots and clears the net very effectively. It takes away from offence in both zones, but Leafs plan is defence first, not giving much , give it to Stolarz as final wall and just wait until our superior offence finds few goals.
Leafs over the course of season are something crazy like 24-0-0 with going into the third with the lead. It’s practically game over if they have the lead late in the games.

This Leafs fan actually thinks the Leafs have a similar sized fanbase to the Los Angeles Lakers.

I'm sorry to the level-headed Leafs fans, but it's people like this that represent your team on places like this. It's quite frankly pathetic.
Thought you were talking just about hockey. You can cool it with the holier then thou shit though. My opinions represent me and me alone. f*** off with the "Ohhh look people this Leaf fans one opinion represents your entire fanbase BS".

Bro, you are throwing mad shade. If your beloved rangers won their division, Ottawa would still be finishing 6 points ahead of New Jersey. There is no mental gymnastics you can do, not even at the Olympic level, that could convince me the Senators aren’t a deserving playoff team.

hard not to see that this is Toronto’s year. It’s written and some of us can feel it

Some people are acting like Brady Tkachuk is Eric Lindros. The guy has less points than Matthew Knies.

Going from playing Pastrnak, Kucherov, Barkov/Reinhart/M. Tkachuk to Stutzle/Brady should be quite the opportunity. If Matthews can get his shot back, this series ends in 4.
