But they've only won once in 11 (now 12) tries when they've had the chance to close out a series.
Im not sure what you're arguing against here? Leafs winning to stave off elimination is something completely different.

Leafs can't close a series and this trend will continue when the Sens take this 4-3.
They gave themselves an opportunity to try.
Besides, it is their record in series clinching games vs Ottawa which has my interest.

How does that logic work for overtime games?

One team is generally leading at some point prior to overtime. That team sits back and the other team scores. Not too many 1-0 OT wins.

Besides an overtime 1 goal win isn’t any better or worse than losing or winning by 1 goal in regulation despite people thinking the games are closer if they win/lose in OT.

Overtime games also can be back and forth like game 3. Leafs led for exact 0min and still won.

everyone's thinking it... no reason it can't happen because it's the Leafs after all

Yeah we're all thinking it.

Remember folks, there is no such thing as a Leafs doomer. You wouldn't accuse people in the Fallout universe of being paranoid for believing the apocalypse will continue to be there....

Pretty off game for Stolarz. Was really unfortunate they were missing JT for the double minor PP because of the cheap shot. Rielly is just so useless on the PP. They should have just put McMann out there or something instead of Rielly.

If they dont close this out in 5, then its looking like the same shit different year.

Pretty crazy the long periods the sens have gone with barely any shots, especially in a do or die game like this.

Extremely frustrating that there's gonna be 0 repercussions for Zub for head shotting Tavares. It's literally every year we have to deal with this crap. How many times do we see our guys get hit in the head, cross checked in the head, knees taken out, boarded, with no penalty called or no suspension.

It's a yearly occurrence in the playoffs, extremely frustrating. But if we retaliate (Kadri) our guys get a 5 minute misconduct and a series suspension.

They gave Hagel 1 game and a misconduct for just interfering with Barkov, shoulder to chest.

This was a complete elbow to the face of a guy who was 20 feet away from the puck.

It's known the Leafs lack depth at centre. With Tavares out - who's their #2 centre? Domi? Laughton? Players that you pay 11M are pretty important. When you're paying them 11M, you can't afford the depth (until next season when he's not making 11M). Laughton played more than Tavares this game due to his injury.

Hopefully it was just concussion spotters and not a serious issue. They'll get past Ottawa without Tavares but not likely to go much further.

Kind of crazy how the 13M “generational” center can’t step up on that PP, though.

He is keeping Ridley Greig and Mike Amadio off the scoresheet though, so I guess that’s worth something…

It just wasn’t a hard hit. Tavares flops to the ice because the refs have been calling soft stuff like that, I don’t blame him for trying to get the call, but the gesture just isn’t violent. Zub is barely moving. Ironically the sell job costs Tavares time because he gets caught by the protocol spotters. Glad he wasn’t out for the double minor or this game may end differently.

Totally different from the Barkov circumstance. JT was heading to the front of the net. Zub was already in that ice. That’s a hockey play.

Agreed. But also look at the vectors of each player. This isn’t a classic cheap shot drive by chicken wing at speed. It’s incidental. I do think 2 mins could have been called based on the pretty tight officiating this series, but people talking about supplemental discipline are insane.
