Series Talk: [A1] Toronto Maple Leafs vs [WC1] Ottawa Senators | Part II (TOR lead 3-1)

I thought the Sens would have at least one win by now. They learned a ton this year and were good at both ends. They have a core, but Dorion really f***ed that team.

Toronto has been much better than recent years. In their case, they probably needed to get rid of Dubas sooner too.

If it's any consolidation for OTT the Leafs always find new and creative way to lose and choke away games and playoff series. So it would be very Leafy of us to lose in 7 games.

It's easy to say that now.

Let's say he lets in his first shot in the 3rd period (which is pretty much what he did) and then his 1st shot in OT, in both Game 2 and Game 3.

I think it's pretty obvious that some people would be miffed.
Over here in reality, Stolarz is on an 11 game win streak with dominant statistics, a confident mentality and is the main reason the Leafs are the only 3-0 team in the playoffs right now.

Theres one goalie underperforming in the series and that’s 8m Ullmark.

Ottawa still hasn’t seen Stolly at his best. Hope he brings his best game tomorrow.
They have to challenge him, so far their goals have been fluky bounces and catching him bored because they couldn't generate anything for 15m+. Even then most chances are one and done from the perimeter.

That's hard to argue, the history that is.

I think this is why we see so much content around "how different is this Leaf team?".

Obviously, we will wait and see if the results are different but it is hard to argue that this team is very different, even from the one that lost in seven to the B's last year...

New coach
New captain
New starting goalie
New power play coach
Tanev, Carlo, and Ekman-Larson
Laughton and Lorentz
Knies finding beast mode

...the biggest one and still unproven is the growth and maturation of Matthews, Marner and Nylander. I like to point out that Yzerman didn't win until be grew up and was surrounded by contributors, he has won NOTHING but the time he was the age of this core. NOTHING.

The real tests come now. Theyve already shown in the past they struggle greatly to get that 4th win in a series. We need to see them end it here or in game 5, dont drag this out. And then next round if they move on theyre likely playing the favourites in the East, and it cant look anywhere near how it did the first time they got to round 2.

Weren’t we told (with some in depth statistical analysis) after game 1 by some Sens fans that this would happen and when it did that the Leafs would be in trouble. What voodoo has occurred for the Leafs to be 3-0 up?

We were also told Brady would show the world what it's all about.

The last two games have been close. I mean, OT to win. So Game 4 should be a tight game again. The goals that have beat Stolarz have been mostly tips and rebounds. I expect Senators to be in his face again with point shots. Leafs have been blocking like beasts though.

When tied during the games, Leafs have carried the play, and showed push the only time they were down. Ullmark will need to have a perfect game and the refs will need to put the whistle away for the Sens to have a chance I think. Leafs PP is on fire. All they need is 1 and you can expect a goal it seems. My guess is 1 or 2 PP each for obvious infractions that prevented grade A chances or result in injury.

Regardless, I hope the Leafs go up early and lock this down. It will be interesting to see how both teams play in a sweep situation.
