Series Talk: [A1] Toronto Maple Leafs vs [WC1] Ottawa Senators | Part II (TOR lead 3-1)

Sens could be easily up in this series leafs ain't no juggernaut wait till they get punched in the face by tampa or cats or caps or canes.
lol common . Sens have barely mustered any shots in the 3 rd period of the last 2 games while trailing . It’s a miracle they scored with 14 and 13 minutes of inactivity respectively . I’m sure Stolarz would like another go at that Tkachuk shot additionally, but has been nails in general .

Looks the Sens are right there but this is their first playoffs in how many years.

As a Leafs fan it good to see them playing calm disciplined hockey and get some good bounces based on the hard work everyone is doing. While patches looked like he doesn’t quite have his legs under him it would be hard for anybody go from zero to 100 in one game. His size and physicality should help in the later rounds. Hopefully the leafs take care of business and stomp on the throat of Ottawa. I’m shocked at the outcome so far between Panthers and Bolts and I don’t want us to fail to close out the series and potentially have last years winner we’ll rest. Not to sound cliche like the players but we haven’t won anything but 3 games, you need 4 to actually win something.

Leafs are like a cat with nine lives. I am by no means a Leafs fan but it is very interesting to see how they seem to thrive under overtime conditions and also coming back from deficits. Many times this year I have seen them down only to get it to overtime and win it. I really think that any team who wants to beat them will need to do it in regulation time. They seem to be on another level with their overtime play.

Obviously I'm happy with the outcome, but Green doesn't really use his line match-ups in his favour.

Last night I felt the Leafs big boys hit the ice in OT more than the Sens(even though it was a short OT)

There was also an icing play with the Leafs dog tired and the 4th line out, and instead of throwing over the Stutzle line(who jumped off the bench on instinct) he went with another line.

I wish they'd close it out in the third and not have to deal with OT.

Green was chasing the Pinto-Matthews matchup all night and Berube just didn't give a damn. Berube got Matthews line out there twice quickly and Green responded by pulling the Stutzle line off the ice...and then the Leafs won lol

This series is following a formula the Leafs seemingly started to develop with about twenty games left in the season.

We have allowed 23.6 shots against per game in this series, this includes two OTs and 9 PP.

We have strong goaltending that can handle that load and not let in softies.

We have weapons that can score when they get the chances and the patience to wait for those changes without breaking the structure or system.

Over the past 21 games the Leafs are 17-2-2. These games mattered too...to win the division and obviously R1.

Is this what it feels like to have the better coach in a playoff series?

Yesterday in the Leafs forum I said Berube should do exactly that: Throw out Matthews every time he sees Pinto. What better way to show that you believe your guys can get it done against anything the opponent throws out there.

So I was very happy at the opening faceoff seeing Matthews line out there to start vs. the Ottawa "shutdown" line. That's A+ mind game-level stuff from Berube.

Leafs just aren’t going to get rattled by a team like Ottawa at this stage. When you accumulate that many wounds even the fragile build a shield. The real test will be Florida but I see no reason why this team isn’t finally ready to go on a run.
