Series Talk: [A1] Toronto Maple Leafs vs [WC1] Ottawa Senators | Part II (TOR lead 3-1)

Did you notice the Leafs had too many men on the ice tonight and the refs totally ignored it?

I was able to rewind the tape and in the freeze frame picture, you’ll see that Toronto has at least SIXTEEN (16) players on the ice as they score the overtime goal.

This is fraud, something must be done!

Now count again. There are also two Leafs double-agents in Sens uniform and one NHL official that helped Leafs score OT winner by interfering with defender who was going to the point to block the shot. 😂

This core has never had the chance to blow a 3-0 lead but here we are.

Don't think the sens will pull that off though. To inexperienced and even when they've been getting a lot of favourable calls they still haven't been able to take a win. No one on Ottawa has really impressed me so far this series.

This is argubaly the very first time in the Matthews era Leafs have an easy round 1 opponent they can easily beat up.

Yeah - I know some will say my Habs in 2021 counted too, and technically they were a weaker team - but Carey Price was always an x-factor and he went supernova for us to win. Ottawa doesn't have anything like that.

My point is - this is their first easy matchup ever perhaps, and they're up 3-0 and likely to end it in 4, or 5 max. How much is that going to help them moving forward? A lot of the Leafs issues have always been mental - they get in their own heads, can't finish off, etc. Maybe starting off the playoffs so strong will finally give them wings and allow them to do a deep run.

2 games in a row the Sens get a third period goal to tie despite being held to a handful of shots, and the Leafs kept their cool and won the game anyway.

Reffing was slanted in Those two games, but the Leafs kept their cool and won anyway.

Lots of shenanigans going on, but it doesn’t matter.

I really like how this coach has the team playing.

How many shots did the Sens have in the last period + overtime. 2 shots? Why are they blaming the goalie? The only “easy” goal that was let in tonight was the one Stolarz let in in the third..

Maybe the Sens should try to score more than 2 goals for once!

Most times the deeper and more talented team will win the series, this is exactly what we're witnessing. The difference in pure skill is noticeable in this matchup, and this isn't to trash the Sens, they're a good team nearly a 100 point squad.

I think playoff experience does play a factor as well. People love the idea that the Leafs are inept playoff clowns, but realistically, you have to think having had hard-fought series against teams like Tampa and Boston has to give a team a leg-up on a team playing in the playoffs for the first time with its current core.
