Series Talk: [A1] Toronto Maple Leafs vs [WC1] Ottawa Senators | Part II (TOR lead 3-1)

The Leafs have done a great job of bunching up the middle of the ice forcing ottawa to the outside to take a bunch of low quality shots and most impressive is the amount of blocked shots Toronto is making. The system works.....
As a Sens fan, I agree. It is also taking advantage of our club's weakness which is that we quite frankly don't have any elite offensive players outside if Stu who still has a lot of development ahead of him. The team does best in close games where they can grind it out and throw a lot of pucks at the net hoping for the best. I wouldn't say this is the most sustainable way to winning games especially when teams block a lot of shots. You're really just hoping for good bounces.

I suspect they may look a bit different at home with better matchups/last change, but they're going to have to make life a lot harder on the Leafs in front. I said it in another forum but whatever has been ailing Brady for the last month seems to have taken him down a notch. I'm guessing whatever it is is relatively serious considering he never misses extended time.

At the end of the day though - consider the Leafs lost in the first round a staggering 6 times before winning a series (and then losing in the first round again). Rebuilding is tough. Sens will improve next year.

Not to suggest this series is over (this is the Leafs, after all), but the Sens are going to be a real force in this league in the next few years. The changing of the guard in the Atlantic isn't too far away.

If anyone’s gonna cry it’s gonna be you guys when your big 4 fail to deliver against and equal talented team. No one gave Ottawa a chance with this series and you guys are treating round 1 like the cup. You’ve never been there.

Poll was 50/50 split. Try again champ.

That works until the Leafs play a more offensively talented team that can bring a physical game. In other words, Florida.

I think the biggest thing, outside of system stuff, is how calm Berube is. Keefe has playoff baggage himself and as the post season approached he got tense and tight and the team felt it and reflected it. They were waiting for things to go wrong.

Berube is just like "meh just 1 game" energy win or lose and the team needs that. He has them focused on the moment not the big picture. Again, what we badly needed.
This is as good a reason as any. Whatever psychological reasons derailed the Leafs in past playoffs, maybe Berube is the right guy to reboot them. Let's see how the next month goes....

Yeah we might be f***ed against Florida...deal with that as it comes.
Its over next round, regardless. They are going to blow their wad early with the massive Ottawa round 1 win. They dont have it in them to beat a team like Florida IMO. Marner will go back to being a mouse again once Florida starts throwing hits.

I am glad it makes you feel better that another team might beat the team your team can't lol congrats on that.

You're on HF stating that 'no one gave the Sens a chance' even though the consensus on HF was that it was close to a 50/50 series.
Thats just hometown hopefuls. If you go and read articles from people who make a living off the sport and actually have a high level of hockey intelligence you will quickly see Toronto was the odds on favorite. How could then not be?

Ya we’ve never been there you’re right. But Ottawa failed to make the playoffs for what 8 years? You’re making a complete fool of yourself lol.

Ullmark shades of Lalime. He is absolutely awful in the playoffs and a choke artist. Btw he has the lowest sv pct of any starter in the playoffs rn and you guys struggle to score more than 1-2 goals a game.
