I came across this story today on twitter. A hockey blogger wrote a story about a family she knew in which the children and their mother were being physically abused by the mother's boyfriend. The Kings heard of the story and reached out to the family.

Jen LC @RegressedPDO told the story today. I put a series of tweets together bleow

A while back I wrote this: http://jenlc13.wordpress.com/2014/12/03/a-familys-struggle/ … about a family we know struggling with domestic violence and poverty. I thought sharing their story may help others realize that there are many ways to help people in this situation. I was contacted by members of the L.A. Kings front office asking if the team could send some Christmas presents to the kids I wrote about. Today I get to deliver bags of fun stuff from the LA Kings along with a kind note from Luc Robitaille to those kids. I'm so touched that the LA Kings reached out and wanted to do something so kind for these kids and brighten their holiday. I also want to note that the Kings contacted me via email and at no point did they ask that I make this gesture of theirs public. I just wanted to put that out there. I'm really touched by what they did and I just want to give credit where it is due.

She later tweeted:

Just delivered the gifts to the kids. I feel safe saying there are a few new LA Kings fans today.

A classy move by the Kings. Not only to help, but to do so with no publicly. Proud to be Kings fan!

The best part is that they did this quietly. So many people and organizations do charity work so they can get the glory. Well done, Kings!

Nice to see them giving off the ice as opposed to the usual giving away of points on the ice that we've seen this season.

fantastic to hear especially with what the organization is going through with the Voynov incident. They could have pointed to this as an example of their work in the community and/or how seriously they reach out and conduct themselves, but character is who you are when no one is looking. Love this move.
