A whole 3rd line in the press box?

Anyone remember the last time in Bruins hockey that a coach basically sat an entire third line, even with other injuries?

Honestly if Beleskey-Spooner-Hayes all sit game 6, that's 25% of the forwards. Just wow.

Any of you recall it happening?

Its nothing but deserving. Beleskey (this season) is not NHL calibre and I'd argue hes barely AHL calibre. Hayes tries hard but lacks the skill and hockey smarts necessary that play in this league. Spooner is too soft, as no defensive awareness and doesn't have any ticker (from what I've seen) and hes too predictable. PP specialist who most teams have worked out cos they all know he won't shooot unless he literally has a wide open net.

No, I don't remember anything like this before -but we need speed and forechecking to cause disruption in the Sens own zone.

Cassidy "It's a forechecking series"

and yet Beleskey couldn't step up for us in a series that is 100% suited to his game.

Spooner will likely draw back in and play limited minutes but reclaim his spot back on the top PP unit.

We had Riley "I'm back to sucking at hockey" Nash on a PP unit tonight!!!, so if they want to bring Spooner back in then I'm all for it.

Marchand--Bergeron--Pastrnak
Kuraly--Backes---Acciari
(the physicality of this line is amazing)
Beleskey--Spooner--Stafford (give-em 4th line minutes if need be)
Vatrano/Blidh----Moore--Nash

Sit Schaller
Krejci inj

I'm very hesitant to put Spooner back in. It's not that he wouldn't be useful. It's that lazy players bread laziness in other players. How are you supposed to go 110% when the guy beside you on the bench isn't. Everyone has to be all in come playoff time. That's what wins a series. Tonight I thought everybody put themselves on the line.

Stafford was terrible tonight. Failed to get it in deep twice, and literally skates the exact same stride as Kemppainen, and he is slow as all hell. I still keep him purely for his shooting.

no way Schaller should sit, he was very good tonight. Nash had a really solid game too. He was asked to do more than he's really suited for and held his own and was huge on those OT penalty kills.

Beleskey is such a disappointment. I loved his first season here and his game is tailor made to help punish the Sens defense and yet he has been useless. He seems like a standup guy so I would bet we learn that he needs surgery in the summer. i just can't imagine him dogging it all year just because.

But thing is, he's dogging it so bad he should have had surgery already. If that's the level he's limited to, there's no point in playing through whatever it is that ails him. He brings nothing at this stage.

Beleskey hurt and he plays that lunch pail style

The other two I think are gone

If they don't move Beleskey I expect him to have a good year

Beleskey is a significantly better player then Schaller when healthy

We could deal Hayes and his one year at $2.3 for Reilly Smith 5/$25 about to kick in

Smith got a whooping 37 points which is 30 more rhan Hayes

Florida would probably want to get out of that but Smith had a modified NMC and Im sure Boston on it

Thank good those players are watching from the stands. Keep them there, nothing they can bring to the table.

That said, I had big hopes for both Beleskey and Spooner but that quickly turned into dust.

Smith can stay in Florida, Dale is back in charge I think!!
Bury Hayes in PVD next year as I seriously cannot imagine any team taking him, no matter how hard his Dad is trying to convince the Rangers to have his boys play together!!!

In todays Globe, Fluto predicts that Hayes has seen his last days in a Bruins uniform and most likely be buried in PVD next year. Cannot imagine him being part of any trade and we know Vegas isn't taking him.
Saw his brother being interviewed by Pierre last night at the end of the game, gotta be tough seeing your brother getting it down while your in the press box!!

How does Sweeney not get most of the blame for these roster failures? It's not just that so many of the Bruins' players can't score, they literally cannot skate at an NHL level. Watch any of the other series and you will not see anything resembling the ineptitude of Hayes, Nash, Beleskey, Stafford, etc.

This is 100 percent right . Beleskey isn't a great player but he is a far cry from what he is this yr. The effort is there despite what many on here think but he just dosent have the first step or skating ability to do enough. He will be back to last year's level next yr .

Hayes bad trade and I can't defend him . Beleskey over paid but much better than you see now . Nothing wrong at all with Nash / very useful player / Stafford well I'd rather have him than not right now and we didn't give up much. I am pretty sure Nash would be dressing on any team so I can't disagree more with you there.

Potential injury? Any player could potentially have an injury. Matt beleskey stinks but because he has a reputation of a hard nosed player he gets a pass.

you need to find the thread devoted to Beleskey, I think you`ll find that your incorrect in your belief he hasn`t exactly enamored fans here with his play, injuries or otherwise

9 pages worth, page 3 of threads here
