Lots of young fast American talent. What do you guys think? How do these 2 teams stack up against each other?

Canada scores 20 goals on that empty American net :sarcasm:

It looks like an intentional 180 from the World Cup team, I'm very interested to see how a Gaudreau - Eichel - Kane matches up

Obviously the American team is capable of beating Canada. Several teams are. Canada has a more talented team, but it is certainly close enough that USA could win an elimination game.

Could happen but I doubt it. And yes who plays in net for the US? You have a defense listed there but no goalie unless you plan on having Blake Wheeler as your goalie.

I just forgot to list the USA goalies. According to the article its Quick - Gibson - Schneider.

No. No team can beat Canada, but sooner or later Canada will have some bad luck which might cause them to lose by 1 goal.

I thought the 2010 teams had a large gap in talent (Canada really didn't leave any stars at home that year) and the Americans were more of a grind and plugging type of team. Yet they beat us in the round robin and took us to overtime in the gold medal game. It can happen. You need to play the game on the ice. But in all seriousness, a team with Crosby and McDavid as the centerpieces should be nearly impossible to beat.

I agree with you, but we didn't have St.Louis, 50-goal Stamkos, or players like Smyth, Doan, Lecavalier, or B.Richards, and defensemen Green or Phaneuf or Bouwmeester in 2010 (not that I complain, just saying there were good players left "home") :) But I agree - with the "anything can happen", and then with the McDavid-Crosby duo which I think will be the best 1-2 punch since Gretzky-Messier in 1987.

I remember the game we lost 3-5 in Vancouver. We were better, but the US played effectively. They also had Ryan Miller. And in the gold-medal game it was 50/50 really. It will be very interesting to see what team will USAHockey select forthe tournament, and what their game is gonna be like. It's not just the young players like Matthews, Eichel, or Gaudreau (and others), the whole team looks pretty good and balanced to me.
