But the question remains; why would we do that? I don't think it's good for the growth of hockey nor is it necessary to put together two of the leading hockey nations. Sweden and Finland are natural rivals anyway, it wouldn't work. There's this saying in Finland that winning is not the most important thing as long as Sweden ends up behind us, lol. It's like putting Russia and Canada together. Team Europe didn't have that kind of relationship going on between the countries and could therefore mesh so well together and team NA was just a bunch of excited youngsters wanting to prove everyone wrong.

And no one cares about Team Europe as we're sadly seeing right now.

Slap in the face for Finland and Sweden... they wouldn't agree to that.

There are two countries in the World where hockey is undisputed #1 sport and people love hockey to bits.

Let's leave the other one out. And hey let's leave the 2nd best hockey nation out as well, while we are at it.

This is one of the worst ideas ever associated with hockey in any way.

Its not that we don't care, but there is no way I'd go to sleep after 2 periods of a final game while my team has a 1-0 lead. Its still nice to see them do well, but the levels of excitement are just nowhere near.

What about, instead of gimmick teams - and ruining several teams in order to make it competitive. We just remove Canada.

Then the next 8 teams are all of a sudden competitive to each other. Problem solved :naughty:

Only Ristolainen (pf the Finns) would make the team's defence. Perhaps not even as a regular. Depends on his progression.

And a Nordic team isn't neccessary, since Sweden alone is as stacked as Russia, USA, Europe and U-23.

The only problem about best on best tournaments is that Canada is in class of their own.

But since they have like 3 times as many registered players as all other nations have combined, thos will likely always be the case.

I still think NHL doesn't know how to complete these events.

Screw the countries, we need divisional allstar teams playing for real.

One motivating idea is that Sweden and Finland combined have roughly half of the population of Canada. So...beating Canada would mean hockey culture might be seen as stronger here around Bottnia than around Lake Ontario.

politeness, they have no goalie 'cept Tuuka Rask

They are all going to fade away (in four years=2020) except maybe one or two who you have to name right now! (I mean NOW, son!!) :) Remember they must be able to stop shots and breakaways from guys like Mikko Konnori Dejvi, Petteri Kejn, Taylor I Hallen and KÃ¥rrio Perri!
