Talking with a friend who is a Kings fan he said he would do

To LA:
Price
Subban

To MTL:
Quick
D. Brown

I said no, as habs would then need a #1 D, then swapped Subban for Markov but acknowledged LA would never do that.

Would you make the initial trade or would the habs (me) be stupid for turning that down?

that's a helluva good deal for the Kings. Adding Subban would make our defense unreal. We don't really need spectacular goaltending, so price would be more than enough. I think the firepower from Subban himself would make up for the loss of brown's points.

Eh, after watching subban last night he was worse than muzzin.

Price is over rated, quick is on another level. I would trade brown for subban straight up but as others have said, quick is the best player in the deal, I would pass.

Value wise it's probably fair, but any deal that sends Quick to another team is a non starter.

Trading Quick would be bigger then the Gretzky trade.

OK, so that is not true at all... but its still just not worth even throwing around the idea, because its just not happening.

i am strongly of the belief we don't need amazing goaltending. When Quick was mediocre, we did just fine. When he was injured, we did just fine with 2 different goaltenders, both leading the league. Subban is an insane talent. Him and Doughty together on the power play would be an unreal battering ram of rockets from the point.

I love Brown and quick, so that would bother me to lose them, but what we gain is so much more. There is no way the Canadiens do this trade while we should do it every day of the week.

one more thing, Quick's style does lead to some concern. I wonder how long this guy will be effective when he's already showing signs of wear and tear.

Subban is a forward trying to play as a Defender.

Just make the kid a winger already MTL and be done with it.

Showing signs of wear and tear?

And surely, mediocre in goal the past 2 seasons would equal no cup and no getting past the first round last year. JUst because the kings won while quick was out hurt does not mean the kings no longer need quick.

You don't trade a young, prime, elite goaltender like Quick, who is signed for the majority of his career away.

No way, Quick is our boy! This is a fair trade value wise, but the Kings have no reason at all to trade Quick as mentioned above. Jonathan is the key reason we even have a cup.

I agree with you here. The kid has great talent and is a great offensive player but does not know what the word defense means and is a turnover machine. He would be nasty as a winger.

Price and Subban are overrated. Subban couldn't even crack the Olympic Canadian Defense and does not work that well in his own end compared to top defenseman. And Price is a great goalie but not Quick/Lundqvist caliber. No, I'd keep Brown and Quick easily. They have proven themselves when it came down to it and won a Cup. I do not understand why we'd trade a guy in his prime that is debatably the best in the world at his position. You do not get rid of something like that.
