maybe. i thought armia had better hands and puck skills comparatively, but not going to get a long-winded back and forth on the 2 players.

barron is big and fast for sure. he had a solid goal scoring numbers given his minutes last year however he's yet to score a goal on a goalie this year and i don't find anything else really of his game that stands out. ppl were talking about trading appleton to have chibrikov in, meanwhile barron is just doing cardio out there most nights.

it's 1 game with chibrikov so trying to temper excitement / expectations... but i think at the minimum could be in for barron, and if there's a top-9er who is struggling or the team needs a jump in-game, he could possibly be an option to move up. would anyone want to see this year's barron move up the line up alternatively
:dunno:
The entire 4th line is just out there doing cardio.

I had an inkling that Chibi would be the next rookie to crack our lineup full time. Still up in the air but he showed a lot of what led me to that prediction against the Bruins.

I love that he's not a shrinking violet.
I think him, Lambert, Salo and Yager are the next prospects to break into the lineup full time

I'm wondering who the 4 they replace are though

Ehlers, Iafallo, Names and Miller would be my guess, but that changes if Ehlers extends (obviously). Anyway, exciting times

In my opinion it be foolish not to play Chibby to replace Appleton, on the 3rd line, and Lambert to center the 4th line. There's a lot of variations we could do, but we have to play them. Right now, Barron, and Appleton produce nothing -- time to move on.

We have to start playing our young stars " right away", as we have to take the next step to make this team deeper. Jets should do this.

Appleton has more 5v5 points this year than Ehlers and Perfetti…

He's 1 behind Scheifele and tied with Vallardi in 5v5 points, as well.

If you look at Chib's defensive numbers in the AHL, you might think twice about putting him on the line that Arny tasks with shutting down they other teams best night in and night out

He'd fit perfectly on the "2nd" line playing sheltered minutes vs weaker match ups though. It would be a great place to break him in

Ehlers Perfetti Chibs

Now you *could* move Names to Appleto 's spot on the Lowry line, but i honestly wouldn't f*** with it. Instead, play him on the 4th with Barron/Kupari and Iafallo

As much as Apples annoys me from time to time - he's definitely not one we should be looking at replacing.

Barron is the obvious guy to sit/ replace
As much as it seems obvious Barron is on the top PK unit for a PK that isn't working great. And the first shift with Lowry on the PK is usually the best one on the PK. Maybe he's the captain's choice, because Arny moved away quickly from putting Kupari on the top unit to have two faceoff guys there. Is Kupari a better PKer than Barron? Not sure about that one. It's probably a toss up in who is the better skater between Kupari and Barron. Barron is definitely the more physical player of the two. RH defensive zone faceoffs that's Kupari's calling card this season, maybe enough to stay in the lineup.

Still wait to see how the Jets handle this one, because Gustafsson is a respected guy on the team. Stanley talked about stepping up for a friend. 13th forward is not an easy role. You're not playing but you are a part of the team. Chibrikov would add more competition to the lineup than Gustafsson will though, and this may be the time to focus on turning up the compete level another notch.

Barron is more physical? I'll have to watch a little more closely, but I see him getting knocked around a lot and losing a ton of battles (maybe bias).

I think PK can be taught pretty quickly as it's more system based than skill based.

Maybe Nik kills penalties to get more minutes?

I had the same inkling and Tuesday's game confirmed it. Remember, this is a guy who had the talent to be a first round pick but went in the second round, largely because of the Russian risk premium. That risk seems to be entirely gone now. Chibi can play anywhere up or down the lineup 5v5, is comfortable on PP, and plays bigger than his size. Methinks he is here to stay.

I'm trying not to get ahead of myself but I hope so. I think he'll get sent down as soon as some bodies come back but he definitely looks like he belongs.

Nik is a little too injury prone to put him on the PK IMO. I don't think you want him to be blocking shots.

If everyone is healthy, I'd lean towards a more radical change, pulling Kupari out and giving Barron an extended look at 4C, and have Chib play some wing on the 4th line and PP2 for awhile. I also think you could sneak Gus through waivers but that's always risky.

The safer and more likely option is that Chibrikov is sent back down when Ehlers gets healthy.

Agreed. I'm starting to think Gus is the most vulnerable forward. He has never really proved to be more than a PB AHL tweener. If Chib earns his way into the lineup, my guess is he is the 1st to see the waiver wire.

I'd love to see a line with Chibrikov and Ehlers, feel like they would have some chemistry.
