My initial reply was to a RW204, but he certainly isn't the first/only to pick out Barron.
Longest goal scoring streak from the start of a season by a rookie in the modern era is three games and four goals scored by Billy Harris and a few others.

I'm pretty excited about this kid. But if we have him on a line with Perfetti, whoever the third guy is has gotta be someone who looks even somewhat remotely happy when they score a goal. I guess Ehlers covers that pretty well.

Not bad for a 50th pick in a super weak draft. Kid has all the tools.
Why though? What have you seen in Barrons game this year that could earn him that responsibility?
He doesn't win faceoffs at the rate Kupari does, he doesn't forecheck the way Kupari does. He constantly loses 50/50s he can't hit the net or make plays with the puck.
Essentially all he does is skate fast.

Agree. I like Barron, but of all the forwards (besides Gus), he's easily the guy that can be upgraded. And his PK minutes can be taken by someone else.
I do wonder though with Iafallo most likley not being affordable next season, if they also don't want to lose those depth guys like Barron and Gus as well. And what they might do, is once say Ehlers comes back, tell Lambert and Chibs they did great, but send Chibs down until after the TD and the rosters can be expanded. Or they could try and move Coghlan through (although if they were going to do that I'm not sure why they haven't yet).
I think they are trying to hold onto all these guys for options. Chances are we won't be healthy enough this season to have to make a hard decision.
I'd absolutely not have Barron in right now over anyone. He's just been brutal this season.
Some are advocating scratching Appleton but at least the guy does things.

I've been trying to focus on Apples lately because he gets so much criticism here - in spite of scoring pretty well.
A couple of caveats, I'm watching on TV and I'm not the best observer. It all happens a little fast for my old brain.
I've been really impressed with how smart he plays without the puck. He keeps placing himself in the right spots, both offensively and defensively. Teammates may not get the puck to him but he is in good spots to give them a chance, or to check an opponent.
He is obviously not without flaws but he gets far too much criticism here. He does a good job in the role he is assigned and helps make that line what it is.

Hard to say if he stays up or not at this point. He looks like a top 6 winger and there is no vacancy there when we are healthy. Short term, Coghlan could go down to open a spot in the PB. Barron is the obvious choice to join Gus there until there is another injury.
I'm not sure 4th line minutes are the best way to further develop Chibi but we can be pretty sure there will be another injury before long. I doubt he keeps scoring at a Gpg pace, or even a ppg pace but if he keeps playing like he has he could put some pressure on Perfetti if the top 6 remains healthy after Ehlers gets back.

And so you have Kupari and Barron with about 3 points each in around 30 games, and there's debate on whether or not to play Chibrikov as a regular ? that's ridiculous. Just play the guy. ( 4 points in 3 games) there's not even a debate here.
Always a debate. What if Chib suddenly comes off his hot streak is his d as good as the other 2? What else does he bring to the line up?
Can't believe it is already d +3 for Lambert.

Did Chib get hurt in the Vegas game? Saw him get smoked from behind and then take another big hit. Seemed to not play after.
Lambert and the whole Moose team is off a little this year, Chib is too at the AHL level. Both have intangibles like speed and offensive instinct that 4th liners don't have.
Would've liked to have had Lambert last night for OT especially and also speed. His retrieval and passing are really good.

What was the quality of the team that Appleton played on in that AHL year? Is it as bad as this year's Moose squad that you're using for Lambert's comparison? It is a team game after all.
Your point regarding Appleton is noted, but I disagree with the comparison you're making here.
Regardless of what any of us think, TNSE is rather enamored of Appleton. I don't particularly love him either, but he does work on our "third" line rather well. It may be that Chibrikov may work better there though (assuming we don't have space for him in the top six), but if that were the case, it would be Appleton moving down, not out. At the bottom of the roster there are guys like Gus that may be on the outside moving in, or Kupari or Barron.
Can Chibrikov stay up playing a third line role? Can he add more scoring to that line? Does he need someone to help him create offense or can he drive it himself? I certainly think he has more flexibility in playing up and down the lineup than a lot of guys currently with established roles on the team.

I think Chibi brings the motor and forecheck. Not sure about his D play but I am trying to ignore his scoring. I don't expect it to last. I've just been looking at his style of play. He is going hard all the time and always around the puck. He may need to play 4th line and wait for an opportunity to move up but he will still contribute.

I don't mean to suggest that Apples is as good offensively as Lambert. That remains to be seen. Just provide a bit of context to the "bad hands" comment.
Appleton's Moose team was pretty bad, not like this year's Moose though. He was head and shoulders the best player on the team the 1 time I went to a Moose game. In fact, I thought at the time that he was the best player on the ice. Posted that here somewhere.
