How can canadians celebrate so much when they win at hockey? I mean, if Sweden wins at floorball, nobody cares.
 
Men against boys, it's not even fair, should've been 10-2 Canada.

Congrats to Russia, they played hard and gave Canada a huge scare.
 
Russians really need to focus on developing defensemen. They've strayed so far from Soviet hockey while Canada plays a freakishy comparable game to the Red Army days.
 
Bobrovsky kept it close as long as he could and Russia used their quick-strike offense as best as they could, and eventually the better team overwhelmed Russia's relatively weak defense.

This World Cup should quiet those who say Crosby has never dominated a top-level tournament.

You were able to capitalize on the Canadian mistakes.

The difference was Crosby.

Ovechkin is just a good shooter, that's all he is....if you think he's anything other than that you need to put down the pipe. Crosby is THE complete player... it isn't close. It maybe close in points, but that's only because Ovechkin on the caps is loaded with Backstrom and Oshie on his line. Ovechkin once again his showing his Chocking prowess with zero shots on goal..:laugh:

That is not entirely true. Ovechkin is a beast physically, he skates well, he has good vision and tonight, he even commit to block shots. The guy is used as shooter, but he could be more if his coaches made him vary his point of attack. His skillset isn't used to its maximum potential.

When it comes to god given talent, Ovechkin has more than even Crosby. Sid has developped his better though.
 
Anybody else bet on a 5-2 score? I had $20 bucks on it, to win $360. Talk about a kick in the nuts...
 
Great game by Bobrovsky and the Russian team gave it their all. Defence was the difference just like many said it would be but it was a very entertaining game and Crosby had a fantastic game.

While Canada may be the best, there are other teams that can beat Canada on its day. It's not like USA vs. Brazil in basketball. There are players on each team that play in the NHL...some at a very high level.

Sweden would be a tough match up with the D they have...although they haven't really played all that well this tournament.
 
As for Russia:

they won't win anything if they don't fix their D.

They can't compete with Team Canada and Sweden with a first pairing made of Markov and Orlov.

Everything else is in order, but they can't achieve greatness because of their godawful D-Corps.
 
Indeed, no Crosby, no win for team Canada. Tip of the hat to Bobrovsky. Such a fantastic goalie, and such a great hockey personality.
