QUOTES TO NOTE:

I wish I knew what to say about our starts.
We talk about it all the time as a team and it keeps happening. I can’t explain it.
It’s tough to win games when you have to chase. It takes a lot of energy chasing, so maybe when you catch up there’s not a lot left.
I don’t know what to say, to be honest with you. It’s just really tough right now. Everyone has to be better.
- Mats Zuccarello

The bad teams I’ve been on, guys get away from the game plan, they don’t give the effort and there’s finger-pointing.
Whether in the room between guys, from the coach or in the media. That’s what happens when things get away from you as a team.
None of that is happening here. We’re together and we’re focusing on taking this one step at a time.
- Rick Nash

I’m a firm believer in if you prepare, work hard, things are going to fall into place.
- Alain Vigneault

Today is the day we turn it around (well.. have to stay positive, hehe).
I`m excited for this game for sure later this evening, LGR! ))
It will be nice with an actual evening game for once, yes, instead of middle of the night :D

"I'm a firm believer if you prepare, work hard, things will fall into place."-AV

The opposite of what you're doing Alain? Getting scored on in the first minute and working hard for 10-20 minutes every game?

Our team is not good enough to make an unprecedented comeback in the standings if we don't turn the ship around this game or the next.

We haven't been the victims of crazy unlucky bounces or injuries. We've been a 99% full and healthy team and yet our results are putrid.

If we manage to find whatever it is that Vigneault is pretending to be there to save his job, we're at best a .600 team imo. 74 games left.

At .600 plus our 4 points so far, we'd have slightly under 93 points. That's not enough to make the playoffs in any of the last 4 seasons.

If we manage last year's point percentage of .622 starting tonight, we would have 96 points which a bubble team based on the last 2 years.

Except this year, we don't have the superb play of Raanta to get us those extra wins and points. Weaker offense but a better defense that has yet to translate.

All of this being predicated on us turning things around tonight. The historical statistical high water for the standings is coming up within the next 3 games.

"On the right track" and "doing good things" and "seeing some good stuff out there" is moot if the record points to a near impossibly climb toward a playoff spot.

Seems like he realized he said too much and then tried to retract? We may have a real mutiny on our hands....

He said what happens in every locker room, from beer leagues to the NHL when a team that wants to win, struggles to do so.

It’s obviously magnified at this level though.

I appreciate this honest assessment rather than the usual cliche things most players say while going through something like this.

I haven't seen any of his games in the AHL, but from the preseason look, I'd like to see Lettieri back up for 4th line duty. He's one of those spark plug types that I think the team needs. We have guys that hustle every moment they're on the ice, but he looks like that guy that goes so hard he's almost out of control. I think this team needs that guy. I thought Vesey-DD-Lettieri was a really solid energy 4th line that still had the ability to produce a little. Cracknell does nothing for me and doesn't bring that extra... something... that I think VL would bring.

Looking at current lines, move Miller back to C between Kreider and Buch, Grabs and Fast with Hayes and then Vesey-DD-VL. I don't understand why Buch is stuck on 4th line when he looks like one of the more confident players out there this season with the puck on his stick. His finesse with Kreids and Miller power styles could be a nice mix.

I don't know what's wrong with him, but Vinnie is injured and not playing right now. They didn't say what the problem is.

I'm hoping Stepan will stay here next week after the game. That might be the only way we get out of this slump. I'm thinking if he stays for 4-5 games to help us back on track then he can go back to the desert!

Feel like I'm cheating on you guys again, sorry. Will be at the Tampa and Pittsburgh game tonight. But hope they can start turning things around. I mean this is it. No more excuses, just play good hockey.

will this be the one to get AV fired? Expecting the Rangers to get smashed today...I dont like the way we matchup against this team. we constantly leave the points open...

Have to be honest I don't think Cracknell is a step up on Carey. The fact is I've been less than impressed. Cracknell's big enough but he's not exactly smooth or particularly strong on or smart with the puck. His movements are clumsy and when he is around the puck he seems to get worked off of it pretty easily. I'll go further and say that Tanner Glass could at least throw a hit and that he and Cracknell both seem to be around the same skill level but that Glass is better balanced on his feet. To me Cracknell is even a step down from Glass hard as that may be to believe.

Agreed with @Inferno this is the worst possible matchup for us right now. They’ve been playing better hockey as of late, but we fall apart against Babcock and Laviolette style hockey.
