It also takes money out of pockets from these players.

i dont think it does take away money from the player. From my understanding players paid for each gameday they are on roster and the cap looks at it by each day. Therefore u can manipulate cap, but player still gets paid.

but i could be wrong. And if i am, that is pretty messed up

But what is certain is that these are cap moves one way or another, and Kakko, Miller and Laf (if he ends up in the taxi-squad) are in no danger of not playing. Or who knows with Quinn lol...

The guys on 2 way deals absolutely get screwed out of money every day they are on their ahl salary (taxi squad) vs their nhl salary. That’s literally how the cap savings are calculated. It’s a shit move to do to your everyday nhl players

All those guys on ELC’s are on two way contracts, they get screwed for days pay when they get sent to the taxi squad on off days, and get whatever their ahl one days pay is.

Well, I came in to this fine place beating my drum about how the Rangers need a captain. Never more than now, I continued to believe. Why not Kreider, I've speculated. Until I read this: Brooks agrees with me.

While rare, you can run two #1 goalies. I don't if it has been done in the NHL, but it has been done in hockey. My team TPS (where Kakko played obviously) won the Finnish championship in 2010 that way. The tandem of Atten Engren and David Leggio split the regular season of 60 games, then Engren played 8 playoff home games, Leggio 7 playoff away games as we won the championship with 4-0, 4-2 and 4-1 series.

That said, yes the team could use a captain and a #1 goalie. The latter one should be clear.

not exactly my point my point is if you think you’ve got two number ones you probably don’t have one at all in 99 out of 100 cases.
