Lmao imagine caring about trade leverage in all of this. Like that's the most important thing to address here. I would have traded him for future considerations a year ago and I'd do the same thing today.

What's even funnier is believing there was any leverage in the first place.

Seriously, how much trade leverage do we have if he passed through waivers besides eating half his salary, eating a worst contract in return or a draft pick sweetener. "Find another team" doesnt have to mean an NHL team either.
People on this board have some weird priorities. Anyone that pulls the shit Tony had needs to be shot to the Moon.

No f'n way it was just the salt from benching, then the scuffle. Scuffling never got anybody waived, tears gets a talking to; they are not going to advertise the rest of the stuff now that he is being shopped again.

The culture needs to change, it's all I know. The laid back feel that blankets this team isn't working. It shows up in games and now has created a monster off ice. Coming out sleepwalking and not ready to play. Playing pond hockey. All this shit needs to go.

You repeating it over & over doesn't necessarily make it true. This team has a ton of issues, mainly personnel & coaching. A letter sewn on a jersey is at the bottom of the list.
I understand you believe this and I respect your opinion. I only mentioned it again today because of the Larry Brooks opinion piece that concurs with what I see and believe to be true.

I think passing through waivers should have dispelled any leverage myths. The only possible, and like 1 in 100 possible trade might be for another team's headache/bad contract. But the buyout at the end of the season is so cheap its not really worth it.

I will say this, I wanted Tony to succeed here. We all did. If he could have set his opinions aside, found his composure and some maturity he could have really helped this team and built value for himself and as an asset.

I am sad it all ended this way.

I am eager to see more PP time for Fox...

I’ve wanted Tony on the Rangers ever since he was on the Coyotes. My new offensive defenseman that I want on this team is Ryan Merkley. If we can replace Tony with Ryan (very similar players and both have character issues), I’ll be ok.

Edit: I won’t be ok, but I’ll be a bit happier.

Calgary's FO probably had a spy on Tony, attached to him somehow in Tony's beach bro crew during the talks over the summer/fall and the guy came back with:

"Pass, still the same Tony. Yikes."

You all can debate all day long, but no one will convince me that this is not 100% Jack Johnsons fault.

Maybe it would actually matter more if the team was ready to contend. However, this team is basement dwelling & doesn't look like that's gonna change for the foreseeable future.

Excited for another battle of rookie defensemen K'Alder vs Joseph. Who's with me?

This is a good strategy. The more low character players we pick up the more likely it is one of them hits.

We ride the 50 point season ->embarrassing break up formula to multiple cups.

I mean it is. Constructing the best team you can is the ultimate goal. If there were issues, you should have traded him before signing him to an extension. This is horrendous asset management and just further proves the idea that this organization is absolutely incompetent.

We need like Kakko to go talk to Rust and Guentzel, even if it's a brief one-minute, socially distanced "hi."
