All those guys on ELC’s are on two way contracts, they get screwed for days pay when they get sent to the taxi squad on off days, and get whatever their ahl one days pay is.

not necessarily. We dont know how compensation works exactly from that post.

We still dont know if players get paid by each day, or by each game. Its a big difference. The cap hit we know is by day.

I believe actual pay is by game, because players have shown paychecks which takes taxes out for states played in during that pay period.

if that is the case than they would only lose money if they were on the taxi squad the day a game was played. So kakko would need to not play and be on taxi squad to lose money.

but i could be wrong

Kreider is in the room saying what's on his mind and has been the entire time.

Does sewing a letter onto his shirt change that?
Yes. It tells the guys where the buck stops as he's the official liason to the coach. Clear hierarchy. Making it official avoids any confusion as to policy and makes it easier for the alternates to just do as you suggest and lead by example, as they should.

not exactly my point my point is if you think you’ve got two number ones you probably don’t have one at all in 99 out of 100 cases.

means one guy hasn’t separated himself

well if you have 4 guys wearing A’s it probably means you don’t have ONE guy you trust enough to wear the C
Yeah yeah I get what you mean, just wanted to point out the anomaly where in hockey there is a #1 and a #2 goalie, and you practically never see a 50/50 split ever.

Naming a captain is not going to change shit here. Not one bit.

If you want radical changes, you need to make radical moves. Changing the letter on a sweater of one player is NOT a radical move.

Canning Quinn would be one though.

Can we also can Oliver? What has he done, if anything?

Yeah and letters matter f*** all in the end. Leaders will be leaders, with or without the letter. Lundqvist sure as hell was one, while he never had the chance to wear one (which is one of the stupid things in hockey).

Who would you hire to replace him?

While rare, you can run two #1 goalies. I don't if it has been done in the NHL, but it has been done in hockey. My team TPS (where Kakko played obviously) won the Finnish championship in 2010 that way. The tandem of Atten Engren and David Leggio split the regular season of 60 games, then Engren played 8 playoff home games, Leggio 7 playoff away games as we won the championship with 4-0, 4-2 and 4-1 series.

That said, yes the team could use a captain and a #1 goalie. The latter one should be clear.

Rangers did it with Richter and Vanbeisbrook in 92 I believe.

So if he doesn't have the C on his shirt his teammates are going to, what, mistake him for somebody else?

You can't just sew leadership onto a shirt. You have it or you don't.

I don't think it's a problem. We have a young team. There are things to like but it takes time. We knew that.

In terms of getting results, we also don't have a particularly good coach. I think we also knew that.

Can someone tell me why Gauthier isn't getting a chance to get back in the lineup?

Kid shows promise and then never gets a shot. We could use his speed/size.

Anyway, LGR!
