I think he would have had a shot. Sid was scoring at something like a 1.5 point per game pace from 2010 to 2013, and if he had kept up a pace close to that over three full seasons, he'd probably already have over 1600 career points at age 35. While it goes without saying that amassing 400 points between age 35 and retirement is far from a guarantee, I think Sid could have at least made it within striking distance.
This is true for everyone in the league, but the lockout and COVID-shortened seasons took a lot of games from him, too.
101 assists to 1000 which is always cool. Would be, I believe, the 14th player to reach it. He very well could end up in the top 10 by the end of his career which would mean reaching at least 1050 to surpass Howe who sits 10th with 1049.

I posted this recently in another thread. Crosby has a chance to become the all-time leader in both assists and points for a single franchise.
The all-time record for most assists for a single franchise is held by Ray Bourque (1,111 assists for the Bruins). Crosby is currently at 902 assists. He's 210 assists away from setting the all-time record. Crosby has been averaging a bit under 0.74 assists per game from 2020-today. Assuming no injuries and no missed games, Crosby can get there in less than four years (ie achieve it during the 2026-27 season). Of course, given his age, Crosby's offensive production is likely to slow down, and we don't even know if he'll continue playing past his contract. But there's a chance he sets this significant record in a few more years.

As Sid ages and the Pens get worse, it's going to be harder and harder for him to inch much further up these postseason scoring lists. Pittsburgh very well might miss the playoffs this season, and who knows if they'll be back before Sid hangs 'em up? We'll just have to wait and see.

Nearly did it in half as many games as Coffey in 3rd.

They will get it together at some point this season and make the playoffs. Don't expect them to do much once there though. As it is the Pens underlying numbers are better than their results to this point.
I tend to agree, at least for this season. Beyond that, I don't feel comfortable prognosticating. For years, the conventional thinking has been "Sid, Geno, and Letang are all good enough that they can drag an otherwise mediocre team to the postseason." As they age into their late 30's, that scenario becomes less and less likely - especially with a pretty empty prospect pool and most of the supporting players being around 30 or older as well.

Its kinda crazy that he's too deep runs away from the breating Wayne in all of these metrics. I know its single franchise but Wayne still would be the goat had he retired after his trade to LA.

I am basing it mostly on the fact that the Pens are right now 9th in expected goals. That is a playoff team. They have been unlucky so far.

I'm not sure what you are supposed to do with those stats or interpret...was this meant to show that someone could argue OV is more of a consistent point producer because he's scored points in more games than Crosby and Crosby has more points because he scores in bunches sometimes? These stats are useless to demonstrate that as it's missing games played (e.g. if player A has scored points in 65 games and player B has scored points in 22 games......if player A has played 80 games and player B has played 23 games.......).OV fanboy coming in peace

The main one shows that Crosby has scored at least 1 point in 71% of his games played and Ovechkin has scored at least 1 point in 67% of his games played. For 2pts, Crosby is 23% and OV is 20%. For 1 point, Crosby is 33% and OV is 36%......but.....what are these stats supposed to mean? SUPER extreme example....let's say Crosby scores 2 points in every single game of his career, no more, no less and OV scores 1 point in every single game of his career, no more, no less. In games scoring 1 point, Crosby would have 0 and Ovechkin would have 1,294.....what is that supposed to show? OV would have 1,294pts and Crosby would have 2,254pts.
