This coach is so in over his head it’s not even funny. I can’t even get excited to watch them anymore. Has he done anything in three plus years here? Blown leads, no defensive structure, rotating goalies like crazy, horrendous personnel decisions, his love affair with Howden, Strome, etc. This guy is a clown. An absolute clown. You can’t win a game like tonight you’re going to be run over all year. This could get ugly.
The team has had excellent d structure more often than not this year. This was a bad one in that area but they’ve been notably improved this year overall.

And the coach doesn’t blow leads.

But yeah I agree that rotating goalies just for the sake of it is stupid. Having said that, Shesty has also not been good at all

How many times are we going to take a lead into the 3rd and lose? This coach sucks.

6 straight 1 goal games. They’re 1-5

The Rangers have held the lead in the 3rd in the last 5. They’re 1-4.

It’s just awful.

It’s bad luck. It’s Murphy Law. It’s “water will rise”. It’s “learning to win”.

It’s all those things, but it’s also got to change.

No way to sugar coat this loss. To lose again to a team that had no dmen left in their lineup. Maybe its no fans IDK their is zero forecheck pressure for extended periods during important stretches in games.
Except two out of every three shifts in the 3rd you had to defend either Crosby or Malkin who were going. Our top guys just stunk it up again. Bread scored but he was bad otherwise and Mika? Simply the worst right now. He should not be getting the ice time he is getting until he straightens himself out.

Without Chytil we have zero centers who can play at an NHL level at 5v5 at the moment, so that's a big problem. Not going to win many games when you get nothing from Zibanejad, nothing from Kakko, nothing from Lafreniere, and Howden is a succubus anytime he's not on the 4th line. It's also a problem that far too often this team just can't create offense from down low, hold onto pucks, and tire teams out. Everything is an east west pass across the ice or a pass up the boards which is high-risk especially in a game where you have a lead in the 3rd and the other team is pressing hard. They never throw pucks behind the net and get the cycle going. Frustrating to watch.

Serious question...how bad does it need to get before they make a coaching move? We are 2-11 in our last 13.

We are loose defensively. We cant hold a lead. Questionable personnel decisions. We should not be this bad.
Can we stop including the Bubble in the record? That was literally a pause during the Season where we were on fire and its pretty evident most of our players didn't think the season would resume again.

“Look how great Mike Richter turned out to be.”

Really? He has a great run, but the guy was streaky and, for me, the most overrated goalie of the ‘90s.

Rangers will be lucky if either goaltender has the same prime as Mike Richter. Richter was streaky. Erratic in the later part of his career.

But in his prime he was one of the best in the NHL and was one of the most clutch players in the league.

Prime Richter and the Rangers have more than 2-wins right now.

I agree. Richter had his issues, but he did win 300 games, win a Stanley Cup and a World Cup. Like I said, we will be lucky if either of these two can do that.

I feel like DeAngelo has been getting way too much shit. A lot of it seems to be just really bad luck as well as being forced to play with Johnson so much. Look at the difference between his GF% and his xGF%. And look where he ranks on the team vs where Johnson ranks on the team.

He dosen’t have good partners but you’d figure he would adjust his game a bit to make up for the fact that Johnson/Smith aren’t that great. There’s been multiple times he’s been out of position and got burned

Ya know... I thought they were going to smoke Pitt tonight coming off Laf's OT winner. I really did. Nope. Same old ****. Never build on a lead. Can't hold a lead. Can't even contest a faceoff. Just get Quinn the hell out of here and get a real coach that can make this talent work. You can see it from a mile away.

How many times did they leave the slot open tonight? To say they’ve had excellent d structure is a bit insane.

Mika has to play. Who are you giving those minutes to? Rooney? Strome? Howden?

He just has to be better. It’s quite possible the Covid stuff is taking it out of him. We saw it with plenty of NFL players this past season. Took them awhile to get back.

Not buying this goalie rotation plan being praised by Valiquette.
He probably thought a rotation would’ve made sense when he was Lundqvist’s backup too.

I get that it’s a shortened season and everything but it’s clearly not working and the result of this rotation is two goalies both playing like shit.

Howden is so bad offensively. Creates absolutely nothing. Rangers need a Center so badly right now. Move ADA for a center option and fire Quinn.

Oh I fully agree with that. Right now our guys make Thibault look like Patrick Roy.
