Post-Game Talk: #8 - 01/30/21 | penguins @ RANGERS

Let’s just keep alternating goalies. No logic behind that. If one goalie wins, we will put in the other one next game. Georgiev is clearly not the starting goalie on this team.

Shesterkin can be the bona-fide #1 when he plays like it. He hasn't. Maybe he will, but right now you have two goaltenders who have completely underwhelmed and let down the team.

Yeah it’s tough. Shesty hasn’t stepped into the role so you don’t want to just give him the job. But he has such a higher ceiling that at some point you have to let him work through it

That’s the problem. They TALKED about getting tougher. They didn’t actually get tougher. Not that they had a ton of options to do so but all they did was overdraft some tall players.

I am so sick of the lackluster play from certain guys. I am done with Strome. Ready to move on from DeAngelo. Zibanejad continues to push me towards ‘sell this guy for assets’. He just isnt the guy for this team.

But most of all... we sit at 2-4-2. We lost yet another game where going into the 3rd period we had the lead. The team was completely outplayed in the period. Fire David Quinn. That is all I have to say. I have had enough of watching this team fall apart in the 3rd period. Fire the coach. Try someone new.

No way to sugar coat this loss. To lose again to a team that had no dmen left in their lineup. Maybe its no fans IDK their is zero forecheck pressure for extended periods during important stretches in games.

What has he done to be starter? Cost the team points in 3 of his 4 starts.

He has less than 20 games to his name. He needs to earn it. When he clearly outplayed Georgiev this season, he could earn it. He shouldn't have it handed to him because there is a vocal group of Shesterkin fan boys on HF.
 
Zib has been pretty bad this year. Gotta think it's related to covid. And maybe having no preseason hurt too, who knows. That might affect more guys than others.

Or he's just playing awful. Don't know. But he looks no bueno.

I read somewhere, maybe it was Quora, that he was horrible even in BU — that he underperformed given his stacked roster. I can’t comment on that, as I don’t follow college hockey, but it seemed curious that this poster (who wrote that he watches every BU game) noticed that.

They should trade him to Carolina. Mrazek (probably) broke his wrist today.
 
Quinn needs to stop with the goalie garbage. Shesterkin is the starter so ride him for a bunch of games in a row and let him get in to a groove.

If you keep alternating you’re going to have two goalies who are underperforming bc neither are in a groove. At least if you get Shesty going your starter is good and you only have to worry about your backup sucking from time to time. f***ing ride your starter. Georgiev looked good in his first game and arguably lost us the game in each of his subsequent games. Cut the shit.
 
Zibby was 20-25% goals on shots last season.

4% this year so far.

Depressing because even if Igor is back in on Monday, much likely so is JMFJ.

We have the pieces to make this season a fun one, even if playoffs is most likely not happening, but with abysmal coaching, Smith and JMFJ getting minutes and Top6 being invisible/inconsistent and DQ changing lines more ofthen than underwear, we are gonna continue to shoot ourselves in the foot.

Front Office needs to make a change now, bring in a Coach who actually know how to make demands and hold players (other than Brendan Smith or Kakko) accountable.

And launch JMFJ into the sun.

Agreed. Potential and ceiling obviously is on Shesterkins side, but handing him the job is a mistake. Competition is good. If Georgiev is good, than Shesterkin needs to be better to have the job.

If they both disappoint, you continue giving each a chance until one gets hot / proves they can take the title.

Handing him the #1 and openly supporting him as the #1, as a coach, makes no sense right now.
