Not the OP... but thats not how defensive systems work.

1) They aren't playing man defense, and haven't since the AV years.
2) When your partner either pinches or is about to handle the puck, your responsibility is to move towards the center of the ice to cover up gaffes.

That play should have been on a 2-on-1 with Tony skating backwards. Not a breakaway.

If he moves to the center ice then he’s leaving the right side open. Watch the replay. The split second that puck intercepted Tony skates back hard. That’s 100% on Smith.

Yeah I didn’t really have a problem with the Trouba call. He got a little excited there. I didn’t mind it either. The front of the net should be a war zone.
For me, it was like one of those holding calls in football, where you're like, "Yeah, I suppose by the letter of the law, it's a penalty," but then also acknowledge that if THAT is a penalty then you could probably call a penalty on every play.

and thats fine... he can still potentially break up a pass to the right side.

Again.. they aren't playing man defense. As soon as the either side moves forward or gets into a board battle the opposite sides skates towards the center. Thats how they've been playing all year.

He's made a few in this game trying to get pucks out of his own end.

He put out his own fire on one of them.
which is why his potential is astronomical. He has the physical skill to recover on mistakes. Like a top DB in football. He has the recovery speed .... plus length and strength

K’Andre Miller currently leads +/- out of all Rookies in the NHL, as a Defenseman, paired with Jacob Trouba. And with no PP time.

I'm in love with the kid.

No one could have expected this. I hope he keeps it up at this level. I expect some mistakes here and there
Honestly when all the prospect guys on Twitter who base most of their analysis on just stats started to get down on him after his last year as Wisconsin without considering the context I had a feeling he was going to come in and be great right away.

I mean you had people saying he wouldn’t even ever be an NHLer and wasn’t even a top 50 prospect outside the nhl.

What have I missed through 2? We looking any good?
Why no Shesty?

Also, McJesus' PP goal :nod::nod::nod:
Why no Shesty is a good no great question!
Miller is our savior other than that exciting second period
