True, but where are those face offs? At what point are they coming? Meaningful face offs too say at the end of a period or on a PP/PK. It’s not in a vacuum like some think.

There are meaningful faceoffs, yes, and it would be nice to have a guy who can win them.

I'm not sure I'd describe random first period faceoff in January as meaningful without the goal. Hindsight is 20/20.

Not the OP... but thats not how defensive systems work.

1) They aren't playing man defense, and haven't since the AV years.
2) When your partner either pinches or is about to handle the puck, your responsibility is to move towards the center of the ice to cover up gaffes.

That play should have been on a 2-on-1 with Tony skating backwards. Not a breakaway.

The call on Trouba was pretty weak, as well. Looked like he may have got Crosby up high for a moment but otherwise that's just good defense in front of the net.

Yeah I didn’t really have a problem with the Trouba call. He got a little excited there. I didn’t mind it either. The front of the net should be a war zone.
