For reference, Bert was over a PPG player in his +1 season and put up 43 goals and 98 points in his +2 season in the CHL. He is the exception with our NA prospects, not the rule.
If you extrapolated Nate's +1 season as if he played the entire season in Portland, he'd put up 93 points. It's great to see the offense come along.

Have you looked at Guentzal's AHL stats? He spent 3 years in college, not 2 like Carter but 48 pts in 42 games before he got called up.

Kind of at same phase on his AHL career now, as 21-year old Guentzel at his 1st AHL season. Mazur is 21y now.

If next season for Mazur is AHL-->NHL breakout season, their careers are identical with raising levels.

Why do you use Guentzel as a measuring stick? That guy never played with someone worse than Crosby or Malkin. No clue how good he actually is.

Mazur just reminds me of Guenztel. A good fiesty little player who is a better goalscorer than he was expected to be.

Not saying Carter's ever going to score 40. But's he's going to be a very good player.

Non-Wings fan here in peace: Hope Mazur gets a chance very soon.

Additionally, how big are the Wings in Jackson? Jackson always strikes me as a football/baseball type town, so unsure how big the hockey following is there and in Southern Michigan in general.

THIS is the guy I'm excited to see come up and reunite with Berggren and Kasper. That line is going to be an absolute unit of a 3rd line. Get healthy!

Trying to keep this thread toward the top to get some info. Somebody said they saw a tweet that he'd still be out a while or something? Who actually tweeted that out?

Bob Kaiser on the radio has noted multiple times that Mazur isn't close to returning and will be out a while

If I'm allowed to speculate on injury(?), I'd guess it's something like a broken jaw based on the hit he took

ugh, a broken jaw would be awful. Means he's likely losing a lot of weight on top of not playing.

I know people are really high on Mazur, but for me, he's in the "prove it" camp. It's not that I don't like his game or what he has shown up to this point, he seems to be a gamer. My hesitation comes from wondering if he will be able to play his game, bring those qualities, and produce at his size at the NHL level? My fear is that he ends up somewhere between a Mitch Callahan (AHL gamer) and a Drew Miller (under-sized NHL plug).

Prob a bottom 6 guy and if someone was willing to take him in a big deal as the main prospect guy I'd do it

Larkin raymond nygard kasper danielson + buchelnikov lombardi finnie plante etc does anyone see him ever being a top 6 guy?

Mazur plus top 10 protected 1st for 25 and 26 in a zegras type deal I'd do it. Like mazur but unles he goes off for 20-25 goals hes a bottom 6 guy

I wouldn’t touch Zegras with a 10’ pole. Forget about trading a 1st and Mazur for him. This team doesn’t need a professional stick handler.

Rather keep the first and worst case Mazur pans out as an energy type 3rd liner with some goal scoring upside.

If the team is trade it’s 1st and one of our prospects ready to graduate, I would hope it would bring in a player who’s actually capable of helping this team improve and win….

This guy needs to gain weight to have any shot in the NHL.

Zegras type deal ... someone who can have high upside and be a top 6 guy

Zegras has a lot of skill , now that hes under performing would be the time to make a deal not when it would cost an arm and a leg. We'll have plenty of energy 3rd line guys. He might even end up being a 4th liner

When he comes I hope hes better than we all think cause we need it . But when i see larkin raymond nygard danielson kasper buchelnikov finnie lombardi plante+potentially a top 10 pick this year +if we retain a debrincat longer +berggren Rasmussen + whoever else mazur can easily end up being on the 4th line someday

Zegras stinks. Totally one dimensional guy who isn't doing his one dimensional thing right now.

We stink period . We cant score for sh*t so we can use his one dimensional thing... now would be the time to trade for someone in his situation not when he comes off a 85 pt season
