Zibanejad had 3 goals in March last year and finished with like 24.

The first half of the year, we were playing really tight under Martin and then just kind of abandoned that.

I hate to say it but there's a possibility this is just what Zibanejad is when you're asking him to play hockey instead of setting up a tent at the red line.
