Fox AND Tony at the point gives the Rangers TOTAL control over the PP. It looked dominating.

Proud to say that I called this last game. I did not want Fox gone from PP1 because he is stellar on the power play, but Strome out for DeAngelo made sense.

kakkos a guy that was used to playing big time mins and being the guy. A lot of people struggle when they go from being the big fish in a little pond to the small fish in the big pond. Kakko needs to be one of THE guys IMO and Quinn just refuses to give him anything consistently

either way, under 10minutes should be unacceptable... If he needs to be limited for condiditoning purposes 12-14 is fine

Throwing him out there with 18 seconds left in the defensive zone is another slap in the face

One guy said that and it was based off of last year.

Tonight’s game took a turn for the weird when it comes to ice time. Kreider didn’t play a whole lot more than him 5v5.

To be fair we had one PP where there wasn’t a stoppage for most of it

That was great. The team really needed that. Lafreniere really needed that.

2-4-1 but we know we should be 4-2-1. They stopped the bleeding which is good. Hopefully they can use this win as a building block, and really start putting it together. I don't think they're that far off, based on how they play overall most nights.

Kakko is stringing good games together. He was all over the ice tonight. Defensively he has took a step. Offensively he is showing more and more flashes of the player the Rangers drafted. His analytics must be much much better this season. It’s looking like he’s found his game and it doesn’t matter who is with him. That’s a real good sign.

I’d be more peeved if they ate all that time and didn’t generate anything.

this game was an anomaly in that sense, most nights they bag 1 or 2 on the PP

Panarin on the left wall is not a threat.
ADA on the top, is not a threat, besides getting his 'seeing-eye' wrister through
Fox on the left wall is not a threat
Buch in front is meh

Zibs is the only threat at bumper. It becomes predictable.

Puck possession means little because they're allowing you to pass back and forth and do barely anything with it.

1-3-1. Like all the big boy teams.

Kreider in front.
Zibs at bumper.
Panarin on the left dot. DOT not blue line wall.
Laf/Miller/Buch on the right dot.
ADA up top.

you can feed Panarin to shoot.
you can feed Laf/Miller/Buch to shoot.
you can setup Zibs in the slot.
ADA can get his wrist shot through where Zibs and Kreider can do work.

It's not rocket science, more options/threats = harder to defend = more success

The PP was cruising at 23% last year with the same exact players and the same exact coach. It’s a trivial concern at this moment in time.

Buch is now a really heady puck carrier. He is so responsible with the puck and his head is always up. He barely makes any stupid puck decisions anymore.

The PP units shouldn't be rocket science when everyone is healthy

PP1: Kreider, Panarin, Zib in the slot, Lafreniere, DeAngelo

PP2: Kakko, Trouba on the left dot, Chytil on the bumper, Buchnevich, Fox

PP1 - The One and done formation
Kreider - Zib - Buch
Bread - ADA

PP2- The Young Gun formation
LAF - Strome (replace with Chytil)- Kakko
Miller - Fox

Easy game for Shesterkin, didn't need to come up with a big time save, BUT he didn't let in a soft goal this time around. First performance this season above a .900 too. Steps in the right direction. Hopefully it gives him some confidence.

Glad to see Lafreniere finally get on the board. He could have had 2-3 goals this game if he capitalized on his chances. Hopefully he continues to build on that too.

Kakko is playing some good hockey. That said, the hockey gods haven't rewarded his efforts. Id like to see his effort elicit results.
