6th Round 180 overall LW Matt Mistele Plymouth OHL

http://www.nhl.com/ice/draftprospectdetail.htm?dpid=85400

Not sure the story here, but Matt went from 60 pts as a 17 yr old at Plymouth the season before, to 37 pts this season.
Makes one wonder if he had some setback, or injury. ? Led the Plymouth Whalers with 34 goals that season.

A sniper pure and simple. Skates realy well and balanced, gains separation, and always gets open and ready to fire his array of terrific shots. Displays a great feel in the offensive zone and his hands help provide even more room for him. Very coachable and mature, he needs more strength and time to develop as an all-around two-way player. Has room to fill out, and hopefully gain a bit more edge. “

Does anyone know why his production fell off so much? Injury? Linemates?

Linemates.

last season, he got to play with similar linemates but he was a 3rd liner/spotty second liner but the top defensive pairings and such played against Noesen/Rakell/Muers line as well as Wilson/trochek/hartman.. mistele, Payne, Heard, whoever the third line was got to do anything they wanted to.. now this year, i saw 4 games and he played against top lines and just couldnt adjust well to it early on. he had Hartman to play with this year but lost almost all of the top 6 guys from the year prior..

he's a big kid, uses his size well.. doesnt skate very fast but he gets the job done. Very raw, needs quality to play with him... at best a second liner but i just dont see it.. i think he is more of a 3-4th liner, who can chip the pucks deep, grind is out.. this will be a big year for his development as i would assume they will lose Hartman.

On nhl 14, this kid always takes a long time to develop, and then turns into an 86 overall consistently :sarcasm:

In his 17 year old year I saw him a few times. The thing is, I could never really figure out how he put up the points. Didn't really stand out with his play, but you'd see his name littered on the scoresheet at the end of the game. My main concern was his lack of an edge. Played a very passive/effortless style that, despite his skill, won't suit the professional game. Definite talent, lacks that real game breaking ability but certainly has great hands and vision. Here's to hoping the coaching staff can instill some grit in him starting with the prospects camp. Have a feeling there's more to give here.

Sounds like Dwight King

Some of his goal scoring reminds me of Cammalleri. He's taller and faster, but like Cam, he seems to always be in the right place at the right time. He has a "nose for the net" as they say.

If he goes down on his knee to shoot, can we call it a Mistle Toe?

Well, since Amadio just scored 5 goals, I guess the pressure is on for Kings 2014 draft prospects who want a pro contract to get on it. So Matt Mistele did the same thing tonight, potting 5 goals in a not so stellar defensive game.

Incredible. I don't think I've ever heard of two players scoring five goals within a week of each other, especially not from the same organization.

I've been doing some Astrological/Numeralogical analysis...... my conclusion is that this guy is the next Justin Williams.....

Both are Year of the Boar.....

Both are Libras.....

Both have numerology equating to 6 (24 for JW, 33 for MM)......

This is gunna be one of those guys who REALLY turns it up for the playoffs!!! :yo:

I'm just glad you're finding healthy ways of moving on from Kitsyn.

is it wrong to be looking forward to development camp already, a cup run,the draft and then camp, hell is nearly august already

While I'm sure we'll find ways to get more picks (overflowing redundant d-prospects, for one), I agree the draft will be boooooring for us.

I giggled, but really, kinda surprised Kitsyn hasn't been called up to the Reign.
