The guy took a red-eye from Florida to Newark to say hi to season ticket holders and autograph a couple of jerseys before taking another red-eye back to Florida and you're worried about him being spoiled?

Just let him hang around Elias as much as humanly possible and him getting spoiled won't be a concern.

Glad to know my opinion of how the organization treats their players is being respected.

We came from an era when Lou Lamoriello wouldn't even give out performance bonuses because he thinks that it sends the wrong message. Just my opinion that the draft picks should have been treated the same.

Never said it wasn't...I just don't think this is the line in the sand to draw. This is the kind of stuff that happens when the organization gets more 'open' like everyone else's and we knew there would be some differences between Lou and anyone else (even Dean one of his biggest disciples is part of an organization with an edgy Twitter that's been on 24/7).

What matters to me is what happens and how the players get treated when Hynes has the whistle in his mouth and is behind the bench.

I haven't looked up the statistics, but I'm pretty sure it's not often that a top 10 pick takes over two years to make it to the NHL. He might be able to make the Devils this year but I think that's a huge mistake. He might blow the doors off in camp, but can he keep up that intensity for eight months? Plus, he clearly has some room to develop his game and that should be done at the lower levels. I think everybody agrees that the guy has great raw talent but at the moment it's still very raw.

I'd rather have the NHL level staff and coaches teach him for a year than the people in Sarnia.

Well I think there's where we disagree. I think the mindset of the team should extend off the ice as well.

Well the owners, and TG all just started following Zacha's twitter. Guess the twitter rule is out the window.

I figured that too lol, although didn't some of our draft picks have Twitter before they got promoted in the past?

I'm actually pro-Twitter ban but I know that horse is probably out of the barn too :P

I don't think in any organization it's really possible to treat everyone equally (and if everybody was truly treated equally, I'm not sure that's fair anyway, but that's a philosophical tangent I don't need to travel down now), so as long as everybody is treated with respect to the degree possible, I'm okay with an organization treating people differently. Basically, as long as all the kids we drafted this year feel they were treated well by the Devils thus far, that's all that matters to me.

I think it was a sign of Zacha's commitment and excitement to be a Devil that he was willing to take a red eye from Florida to Newark to meet-and-greet fans and then take another flight to Florida to celebrate more with his family.

Now it might have been nice to have the other draftees at the meet-and-greet too so the fans could meet them as well, but I don't believe that all the players on the team go to every community outreach event, so it doesn't really matter that much to me that it was just Zacha at this one. Doesn't upset me either way, especially because the other draftees might very well have preferred spending the time soaking up the sun with their families in Florida rather than take a red-eye to Newark to answer fan questions.

Hey guys, Leafs fan here.

Just wanted to say-and I've been saying it for a while-I think this young man is gonna be dynamite. Like, one of the better players in the NHL once he's developed. I don't mean to get yall too excited, Im just really high on him! Haha.

Anyways, congrats!

Thanks. We like him a lot, too. Good luck with Marner and Babcock next season except when the Leafs face the Devils, of course. :D

At first I was so disappointed that you guys passed on Barzal, but seeing how far he dropped, it makes more and more sense that you got Zacha. He doesn't remind me of an Elias type player at all, he's more reminiscent of Holik, and I think he's going to be exactly what you need to start competing again.

I like this. Hopefully a better version of Bobby.

I don't think Holik was capable of shooting the puck like Zacha. And Zacha is faster. But Bobby was much, much more polished.

Holik had the benefit of being the son of a high level coach, but I think there are similarities.

Regardless of contract he needs to be in Sarnia next year. Having an 18-year-old center not beneficial to him or team

Certainly. I don't think Zacha will ever be the all around player Holik was, but I think he has potential to make a greater impact on the game on a nightly basis. He has a lot of elite level skill. Honestly when I watch him play it kind of reminds me of Ovechkin. No, I'm not saying he's the next Ovechkin by any stretch of the imagination. But the way he skates, he's fast but like a bulldozer when he gets the puck. He'll throw his weight around to the point of being borderline dirty which a lot of the top end players in the league, Ovy included, seem to do. And he has a wicked release on his shot. He also tends to slack off a bit in the D zone the way Ovy does.

But what I've seen of him is admittedly limited so it's still wait and see for me. But I'm excited to see him play.

Warming up to him a bit more after watching some additional highlights.

Also, I'm really impressed with his English. Wow haha. He didn't speak English at all as of 18 months ago...

I really don't get this Holik comparison when it comes to Zacha. Zacha is so much faster and smoother. I know Zacha has size, a physical edge to his game and they're both Czech, but I don't see it at all. Holik was a bull and yeah he had skill, but he did not have the top end skill Zacha has.
