I like how he called Shero "the great GM". I also like how Shero said "He must have been talking about Lou."

I'm not super impressed with his point totals either. But I'll trust the professionals. Guys like MacKenzie and McGuire had him projected to go this high for a reason. They watch him a lot more than any of us do. I'll defer to their judgments.

I do agree he should get 9 games, and barring a colossal effort through those 9 games he should get sent back down to dominate at the junior level.

He played 37 games, not sure how you can conclude anything from that. I'm

Seems like everyone is saying the same thing . Trust the coaches to develop him properly whether that's going back or staying or a combination. This is not a short-term pick it's thought to be the future.

If he's not staying, he's in Sarnia for the rest of the year. I have no doubt he'll get as close to the max allotment of games as possible before being sent back unless he's just clear cut not ready. There is an emergency recall possibility but thats only allowed for a few games and I wouldnt expect that.

I trust this staff to make the right decision on him. They cannot do with him like they did with Matteau. They burned a year of Matteau's ELC needlessly. Larsson at least made a bit more sense since he was European and he needed the time on North American ice plus we were obviously a lot better of a team that year.

I really don't want him in the NHL this year but I suppose giving him the 5 games and sending him back isn't a big deal.

What's your barometer for judging his point totals? He played in 37 games and had to deal with suspensions and injury. He was also in his first year playing on NA ice. He still averaged almost a PPG.

The fact that he was 6 on McKenzie's rankings and many others makes this pick good with me, even given the point totals.

I said this in a previous draft thread but look at his game log. In his first 5 games he had 2 points and then he finished with 32 points in 32 games with his injuries and suspensions(obviously has to get more disciplined-can't slew foot ppl). Obviously he needs to produce more but Sarnia wasn't a spectacular team and if you look at 17 year old seasons by other top picks from guys who aren't from NA that went to the CHL such as Landeskog and Draisaitl his production wasn't that different. The difference is Landeskog and Draisaitl got another season before their draft years due to them missing the cutoff(not comparing them stylistically either--just production wise). Obviously this can't tell the whole story because you can't judge the whole thing in a vacuum and Draisaitl had a way more impressive draft year than Zacha but I don't think it is a reach at all to draft Zacha where he was drafted. Hopefully he proves the scouts right.

You bring up a good point that has the optimist in me saying Zacha would have been a top 2-3 pick in next years draft.

He also missed time at World's which he looked really good.

I am not to worried about his production. There are good reasons for it, and in the games he did play he produced. Plus it is clear he has the tools.

made it back to the Rock for the season ticket event. thats pretty cool. LOVE how hes really buying into the team

there is abaolutely nothing about this kid that suggests he needs time back in juniors... He stated he would love to play in the NHL, he is big fast and physical (top 3 skills needed to play in the NHL young)...

people who are willing to swnd him back for a year if need be, I agree. Think he should go to camp and do very well, then do great in his five game stint to stay around. But to those saying 'this kid cannot touch NHL ice for 2-3 years'... I say there is literally nothing pointing towards that from what we have seen.

i fully expect him to come in as an immediate impact player, and if not that is okay, 5-6 games and juniors for a year isnt that bad of an outcome.

Based on Shero's quotes it seems they want to give him a legitimate opportunity to make the team this year. He definitely has the build to play in the NHL.
