Leadership is a big issue. And don’t anyone forget this when it once again comes out that the Rangers really aren’t interested in assigning a C to one of these guys.
It doesn't matter who has or doesn't have the letters. Frankly, I just can't see any leadership in this team at the moment. I don't know who would you give the letters to.

The Lafreniere worry on here is ridiculous. What is he supposed to do, with all of our vets playing like they've never seen the sport before?
He is going to be one of the best players in the league. Calm down.

Yes that is another topic key veteran players need to improve.

Yeah well if you don't think he was the glue to that panarin line then you are the foolish one. Fast did everything for that line. We have noone that plays like him on this team. We need grinders with some skill
Strome not playing like complete dogshit and Panarin playing like he wants to be here is what made that line. Not fast hahahahaha.

Because so far it's looking like Kakko from last year. And yeah, Kakko has been good this year. Not great, but good. But It's not a good sign is it?

The whole team looks like Kakko from last year though. It's unfair to expect a young kid to come into these exceptional circumstance and immediately take hold of a bunch of under-achieving vets that he has watched on tv for years, and drag them along. Crosby or Ovechkin maybe, but not most 1OAs

Fast wouldn't make a difference on this team right now? Funny he got hated on for not being able to bury all the chances when in fact we need someone to help create some chance. Some fkin havoc. They were sleeping even in the beginning of the third. The Sabres defense had days to decide what do with the puck.

This is the easiest team to defend against. Just clog the middle and the neutral zone. The players refuse to get dirty.

.

management had some harsh words at the end of that Carolina series. They recognized what was missing.

Then the Rangers win the lottery and the above appears to have disappeared.

No one is expecting them to play lights out, but Laf was great in his first game. He has regressed. From my POV, that's because of coaching.

I have zero problems with what Laf and Kakko are doing right now. My stance is pretty much on par with Valiquette. I liked what I am seeing out there from them.

You know what bothers me?

That I notice them significantly more than the core veterans. Not just once or twice. But throughout the game.

And not just one game, but multiple games. I see the young talent getting chances. I see them attacking. I see them engaged. I see them hustling. I see them getting scoring chances. I see them doing about as well as any teenagers are going to do while being surrounded a guy looking like he is having stroke out there, a star winger who looks like a shell of himself from last year, a center who looks like he still has COVID, and a line of AHL forwards.

So yeah, I’m not seeing what you’re seeing out there. And based on the reaction to what I posted, I don’t think it’s an isolated opinion either.

My issues right now are with the numbers 16, 93, 10, 77, 31, 40, 27, 8, and a few more. They aren’t really with 13, 24, 23 or 79.

Pretty much agree, and you could add Buch to the good list too.

Who on his line is winning puck battles ? I will be waiting for your answer. Panarin and strome don't do that. Kakko and whoever is on that line don't do that as well as fast either.

Am I the only one that wants us to lose 6-0 next game so that Quinn gets fired. The last thing we need is another Islanders mirage.
As much as I despise Quinn I still don't want us to get humiliated like that. Why even watch that disaster

I tend to agree. But leadership in this case really needs to be about setting the example for working hard, checking hard, making simple plays, hustling, outworking opponents. We're a young team but we're not a hungry team and it's on every player over 23.

See my other recent post, but the vets on this team are the ones who refuse to play the right way. We need to be 90s Sabres under Ted Nolan. But instead we're the oilers for the last two decades.

At least Strome wasn't on the 6 on 4. Hopefully that means hes getting demoted. Get him away from Panarin and PP1

At this point Gorton must be facepalming that they brought Strome back, let alone gave him 2 years

He’s been just a nightmare

Unibet on hockey is so difficult and I am about to give up.. NBA & Soccer however is much easier. I had an tie and Rangers had a perfect opportunity on that PP in the end of 3rd. it feels bad.

Watching Pionk all night match Draisaitl and McDavid and hit them and poke pucks off their stick. I was told he stunk and Trouba was the get from people like Herman and Fortunada.

That's what Edge is saying, just worded differently.

If Quinn is a man of his word when he talks about a merit system, Strome absolutely needs to be in street clothes to reflect on himself. Because he's been absolutely horrific in every facet of the game. Panarin has not been good, but I think Strome is an anchor to any of his teammates on the ice at any given time currently. He's just been lazily flicking the puck on his backhand every time he's on the ice. Smith does need to come in for Johnson to make DeAngelo at least decent, because Johnson is just killing possession every single time. Like I said before, Mika had the virus, so I'm giving him a bit of a pass. You forgot #20. Other than scoring the early goal, he just keeps doing his thing. Which is bad. And, the last thing you want is these bad habits from the vets rubbing off on Lafraniere. Look at that lazy no-look drop pass inside the offensive blue line in the final minute as the team was trying to gain the zone and tie the game.
