Mika looks horrible. Idk if it’s the covid, it probably is. But he also looks like a guy who was reading his press clippings all summer.

Lafreniere and Miller were two bright spots. Lafreniere is being held back by line mates. How about that PP with 6 mins left. Multiple nice passes and a fanned shot by Trouba and another by Howden. Howden also scrambling all over the place.

With no Chytil and Mika playing like a 2013 version himself, what kind of center play do we even have? Howden is useless and Strome is invisible.

I thought Mika looked more energetic and himself towards the end of the game.

They should stack him and Panarin for now. I hate it long term, but right now its the right move.

Tell you hwat, if we lose back to back to Buffalo, that might get Quinn the boot. The loser culture is going to set in if we keep losing like this.

Can’t fire Quinn when the team is playing well but not winning.

We’re so close but just not there—something is missing with the team.

Some players like Zib, Breadman,CK and such need to pick it up and put the biscuit in the net.

They are playing well? They have not face a team with more talent than them and they have won 1 game in 5 tries.

Igor let up 2 bad goals, but he also made some big saves at times when yet again the Rangers were caught with bad rotations and assignments. Happened AGAIN on the 3rd goal. Even the 2nd goal, a bad sequence where they were getting pinned a bit.

I am just over this team being run by David Quinn.

For whatever reason, Igor is having trouble tracking pucks. That needs to be figured out. The last two goals were stoppable, but he's not tracking the puck well enough.

For as decent as the team played for a chunk of the game, they treated the puck like a hot potato. No one can take a one timer. No one can handle the puck when they have an open net. Everyone, including and esp the veterans, are acting like they have rookie jitters in the offensive zone.

And I don't know if it was PGH or what, but suddenly in the third period, we went through large stretches without making a clean breakout. We kept coughing the puck up.

In any case, a really infuriating game. Sorry for venting as I know we're all feeling the same.

I blame the coaches. Brutally out coached night in and night out. Too green. College coach. Assistants that barely have NHL pedigree. Jacque Martin who thinks Jack Johnson is a defenseman that they have to sign right away.
I’m sick of the blame going on assistant coaches already too. Eventually it falls on the front office for signing the guy AND the head coach that’s had the same players now for a bit and has no system or structure. All we heard was how bad Ruff was. He was the whipping boy. Yea, NJ seems to look just fine right now, eh?

Now when the top guys aren’t going and can’t bail out Quinn’s shitty system it’s pretty obvious he’s being exposed.

we need an X’s and O’s Coach who is detail oriented. Not this buffoon.

you can clearly tell the top 6 are completely lost and can’t read each other at all. Meaning there is no game plan once they get in the zone.

No team is gonna have a good 5 game stretch with bad goaltending and the entire top-6 being net negatives.

I said it last year, I'll say it again, it's gonna be a decision in the room if they want to be easy to play against or hard to play against. Has nothing to do with Quinn. They decided after Thanksgiving to get harder, and we all saw what happened. It's up to the room.

Well you know the age old phrase “if you have 2 goalies, you got none”

(I think Igor is our guy he’s just been rusty)
I agree in Igor, still like him a lot and I think he’s the guy, but this is a bad start by him. Multiple easy goals against so far that can’t go in.

Those two 3rd period goals tonight were horrible.

Just think it’s funny that goaltending was the least of anyone’s concerns going into this season and it has arguably lost us the game 3 or 4 times in this young season already.

At some point soon they really need to start winning these games where they outplay teams. Their play after the first game had been encouraging generally but they need to convert it to points.

Panarin needs to pull the trigger more often. He’s a great passer but teams are cheating on him assuming he’ll pass and they’re right more often than not.

Shesterkin had some good saves there but all 3 of those goals were stoppable.

A lot of the top guys in the league are bad right now. No camp has been a major issue.

I literally don't care about goaltending.

Kakko, Chytil, Fox, and Miller are looking great.

We've been the better team in 4 out of 5 games.

Trouba looks better.

Like I said, Lafreniere wasn't 0-0-0, I'd be A+ right now.
I feel the same. I prefer our young guys looking good and our vet players playing like shit than the other way around. Bread and Mika are too good to keep playing like this. They'll figure it out.

A littler worried about Shesty, but he hasn't played a game in 10 months either. I think he is just lacking some confidence right now. I think once he gets going with a string of good games, he'll be fine.

No, Vally, those are not great saves. Those are standard saves for an average NHL goalie. A proper starter needs to surprise you at least once a game (assuming the opportunity presents itself) on most nights. Have yet to see that once from Igor this season.

Totally Quinn's fault Igor gives up 2 stinkers and Mika, Kreider, Strome, Panarin have taken turns wearing invisibility cloaks. Our best players were a kid with a couple of NHL games under his belt, Fox, and career AHLers playing their tails off.
Its his fault we haven't looked good since the bubble. Its his fault we cant generate any offense when we face the trap. Its his fault we will not try to get to prime scoring areas.

Panarin isn't beating anyone with his skating right now. First few games LAF was good, but just not getting chances. He is officially fighting it now. Hope Chytil isn't out long or it could get ugly.
