Hilarious that the Devils and Lindy Ruff just shut out the Islanders with their 3rd string goalie after we all swore Ruff was the root of all of our problems. Actually embarrassing how much we trolled them when they hired him and they dont even have their 2nd and 3rd best forwards.

Laf just needs a goal or even a nice assist. He’s just got a 10 month monkey on his back hesring nothing but hype about himself he’s just got to get that introductory one and he’ll loosen up I’m sure. But it does not help at all that his centers strome and Mika have been putrid.

I don't see all of these people giving Quinn a pass. I will say though, I think some people like @Machinehead probably appreciate the way the Rangers played the last 2 games rather than getting their teeth kicked in in terms of possession.
Well possession doesn't mean much if it's not translated into real output. The Pens had no business taking 4 points. No way. Theyre a team on the downtrend with a fading Crosby, Malkin and Letang, who were invisible both games pretty much. We beat ourselves.

I’ve heard the PF argument from a few people now. I’ll buy it for KK, not for Laf though. Laf can play with an edge, but he’s not a PF. He’s a cerebral playmaker.

I am not worried about Laf.
Still a big guy who likes to use his body to grind out in the corners. He hasn't nearly been as physically imposing as he was advertised. Clearly a size issue (still needs to bulk up and fill out more).

At least we didn't lose a game because our coach made the worst call in NFL history while having one of the greatest players ever on his team, like the Packers.

A horrible decision worthy of being fired quite frankly. You have Rogers as your QB, you have to go for it on 4th and 8. So they get 3 points, big deal. They still have to stop the GOAT Brady and still have to score a td if they did stop him which they didn't. That's a decision Adam Gase would make. Inexcusable.

He's been disappointing so far but he's also played 3 games and 1 period. One of those games he played decently and that one period he had a shutout.
He has to work off the rust like everyone else.
Not having any preseason games hurt everyone. 3-4 preseason games would have helped everyone. But, we are not the only team going through this. If the Rangers are still on shaky ground after game 15 I think that's when serious consideration has to be given to making permanent changes.

Its funny how the entire roster is underperforming and some are willing to give Quinn a pass. The same thing happened with AV and it only took him single handedly blowing that abomination of a series in Ottawa with the worst coaching performance in NHL history to open your eyes.

No, no you see its because the Rangers didn't get to have a pre-season! Unlike the 30 other teams

A friend of mine said earlier that those 3 pointers are fools gold.

I think partly because he's been a step slow with his reads. So when he should be on top of someone with the puck, he's not because he's chasing the game a bit. Kinda like KK last year.

pretty embarrassing how all of the team's problems were blamed solely on Ruff because he's a geezer and Quinn was teflon. At least now people are coming around on DQ.

Ive wondered about this too. No gate and concession revenues.
I just watched Dallas/Nashville. There were some fans in the stand. From what I could see no one left their seats. No concessions are available. It wouldn't surprise me if someone needed to use the bathroom they would have to raise their hands and get permission to go.

So I'll be positive. Coming into this season we thought we'd have a shitty defense, great goaltending, and great offense. Instead we have good defense, shitty goaltending, and shitty offense. The goods news is the defense is playing well because Fox is a stud, it looks like Miller is one too and his play is not a fluke, and Lindgren/Trouba are playing their roles well. With that and Martin here, I don't think it's a fluke. I can't imagine our top 6 being this bad long and same with Igor.

I much preferred the former lol. Much more fun.

It was just a convenient excuse to keep the heat off of Gorton for how underwhelming Trouba was and is looking like one of the worst contracts in the league. It is so concerning how every player we give a big contract to just falls off so quickly.

We have to have the worst return of investment on contracts in all of sports history. And the one player that actually earned a contract based on what he earned in a Rangers uniform we lowballed and shipped off to Tampa.

Exactly. So far this season we have been the better possession team most of the time. This is major improvement from last year. I don't think people remember how the rangers were caved in their own zone for minutes at a time throughout games last season. We only let up 4 shots that entire 3rd period today. A couple bounces in the other direction and some better goaltending and we could be 4-1 right now. I think there is still a lot to be happy about when you look at this objectively towards the long term goals of this team.

Everyone step back from the ledge and remember that we are the youngest team in the league that had no training camp or pre-season. We always knew that making the playoffs this year was questionable to begin with and we weren't going to sniff a cup run. Growing pains are going to be the norm this year. Trust me, the team learned something tonight.

They will figure it out, but it's going to take some time.

I'd agree with this had we not signed Panarin. Now the flip has switched and the pressure is on to win a Cup while he is still in his prime. Aka the next 2 years. As evident as keeping Kreider post-Panarin but trading away two better players in Miller and Hayes pre-Panarin.

Eh, I don't completely agree with this. There were a few times where Mika or Kreider were fighting for the puck in a corner and Laf was the second man in, and he was a bit slow/lazy in helping him out and wasn't showing a lot of fight. In general he isn't winning puck battles (like KK last season). That surprised me given what I had heard about him. I think physically he is just feeling weak compared to the competition, like KK.

But at the same time, they want track meets and they don't know how to play any other way. That's a big fundamental problem.
