Hank had a 3.60 GAA and 0.878 save % in his sophomore year, that shit happens with young goalies. Though this game was infuriating on his part. Just infuriating. 2 goals on 4 shots.

Huh?

Hank's second year he was 37-22-8 with a 2.34 GAA, .917 SV%

I feel like our breakouts and transition look labored. We dump the puck in and generate no forecheck. We are a step slow to loose pucks. I dont think we generated enough good chances. When we did, we decide to pass the puck and misfired on the pass or couldn't handle it. Very frustrating.
Im glad we're watching the same game. The breakouts for sure are due in part to teams playing the 1-2-2 and 1-4 on us. They know we want a track meet and they know we are in love with the high lateral play.

Need to be reminded that lafreniere hasn’t played a game in 10 months none of his predecessors came into the league with that kind of delay in their development. It may take him some serious time to get to where he wants to be. I’d be giving him as much pp time as I could to get him some easier looks and build back some confidence.

the goaltending has been the biggest issue thus far. I don’t like the top lines game at all and strome is horrific as always but the goaltending is why the pts aren’t on the board. We won’t survive another week of it though.

And let me add as much as I want shesterkin to go right back in there to work thru this he doesn’t deserve to start on Tuesday. He got the game tonight and pissed it away. Georgie who’s not nearly as good a goalie should start. Shesterkin needs to know nothing is given in this league for kids

I agree but since the bubble we have no answer for a 1-2-2 and 1-4.

We played well enough to win both of those games and should have had at least 3 points, not 1. The team is nowhere near where they need to be. They are not a slow skating team but they still look disjointed and not in sync. A lot of it has to do with rust and some of it has to do with the other team playing some decent defense. They will look much better with the timing 5 games from now but I'm not sure if it's going to be too late by then. These games against Buffalo are very important even though its early.

I don't think he's looked as bad as everyone here is saying. He certainly doesn't look MVP calibre like he did last season, as was expected. But his regression thus far is not even close to Kreider and Zbad; Only thing I would say is Panarin needs to shoot more on those good opportunities. He had those passing lanes last year, but they are closing up quicker now and just needs to start ripping them. I think he'll be just fine.
He's a very intelligent player, but he does need to be more aggressive. He hasn't gotten help from Strome or Laf or on the PP much.

At least we didn't lose a game because our coach made the worst call in NFL history while having one of the greatest players ever on his team, like the Packers.
The play before that decision was made one of the greatest players of all time has an open field and could have picked up 5 more yards, and possibly score, but he decided to slide.

I figured they would need 8 to 12 games to get on track. I'm not ready to hit the panic button yet. One thing that I am surprised about is how inconsistent Shesty has been. I really didn't expect to be saying that at all.

He's been disappointing so far but he's also played 3 games and 1 period. One of those games he played decently and that one period he had a shutout.

Because they've been a slow team, so chip and chase hasn't worked. And those first three games they were plain ass on puck battles. They're still getting dominated on faceoffs. All of this has prevented any type of flow to their game. ADA on one shift was able to carry the puck in himself. Miller's been able to do it sporadically. Need more of that.

Didn't he throw the ball? Here's the thing, if they went for it and didn't get it they'd be where they were with the FG attempt, having to stop the Bucs and needing a TD. There was so little gain it was pathetic. At least we still have 51 games left and we have Buffalo twice. What sucks is that I don't think Pittsburgh's good this year. We outplayed them both games and Crosby and Malkin didn't do much. It was our gift and Brian Rust, that's it.

I agree they should have gone for it. If they miss you got the Bucs pinned deeeeeep in their zone.

Really tough loss. Shesty fighting it a bit so far this year.

Hope Chytil doesn't miss much time. Line really fell apart without him, and I wouldn't say they were having a great night beforehand.

Maybe whoever we draft at 8OA this year will become an actual superstar. :sarcasm:
Our sweet spot seems to be in the 20-25 range lol. Chytil, Miller, Lundkvist. All of whom have so far outperformed top 10 picks Lias, Kravtsov, Kakko, Laf.

All joking aside, I do think Kakko and Laf will figure it out. Just need to be patient I think. Both of them are more of the power forward mold. They take longer to develop. Similar to Chytil.

Its funny how the entire roster is underperforming and some are willing to give Quinn a pass. The same thing happened with AV and it only took him single handedly blowing that abomination of a series in Ottawa with the worst coaching performance in NHL history to open your eyes.

I don't see all of these people giving Quinn a pass. I will say though, I think some people like @Machinehead probably appreciate the way the Rangers played the last 2 games rather than getting their teeth kicked in in terms of possession.

I’ve heard the PF argument from a few people now. I’ll buy it for KK, not for Laf though. Laf can play with an edge, but he’s not a PF. He’s a cerebral playmaker.

I am not worried about Laf.
