What TF was Gorton thinking with that Kreider extension. He is the luckiest GM on planet earth the way Fox, Panarin, Kakko and Laf fell into his lap.

Didn’t understand why so many on here wanting him extended. That contract already looks bad and it’s gonna be worse as he ages and his speed declines. Rangers as an organization still haven’t learned that certain players aren’t worth long term extension especially homegrown talent.

Missed the game, how did Lafreniere look?
Not bad. Not great. Like a kid trying to figure it out.

Again tho...no coach in the universe is going to win games consistently where the goaltending is giving up 2 to 3 bad goals a game.

That winner was horrendous...he basically ramped the puck in with a weak paddle.

Horrible.

I'm not down on shesterkin but let's call a spade a spade...he's been awful.

On the plus side kakkos is noticeably faster and more engaged this year with much better jump to his game.

Once he gets stronger on his feet he's gonna be tough to contain.

"Just give Igor the lead and he will win us games" they said

"This kid doesnt know how to lose" they said

Season is too short to be pissing away games like this.

Hank had a 3.60 GAA and 0.878 save % in his sophomore year for the first 10 games, that shit happens with young goalies. Though this game was infuriating on his part. Just infuriating. 2 goals on 4 shots.

Edit: I made it sound like it was his entire season, I meant the whole season.

I'm not sure people thought he'd be prime Hank right off the bat but even prime Hank had off games and off months. Hank quite had one month a season where he would allow a soft goal every game and would allow 3 or more most games.
That’s a fair point about Hank although I disagree with the tone of the discussions around Igor of the summer. He was definitely being talked about like he was going to be a vezina contender no problem. He still may well be, this is only a few rough games. But the truth is that he has not been good yet and I don’t think anyone expected that. And there is something to be said for the pressures that come with now being “the guy” and maybe an adjustment period with that as well as coming off the long break. I just mean to say a lot of the talk around him was basically like he walks on water and can do no wrong when maybe there should be a little more expectation do some growing pains or maybe a little bit of struggles.

All I’m saying is maybe ppl got a little ahead of themselves but they could end up being right in the end. I know I’m a huge fan of Igor, I’ve been banging the drum about him being the heir apparent and the workhorse going forward.

Guess who started his second season with 2-4-4-6 Goals against in the first 4 games?

I killed Hank during his swan song and I won’t be shy about killing Shesty now. He’s been mediocre to bad. Not gonna cut it in the high parity NHL where every goal matters.

Not sure what type of answer you expect to this. Like, timestamps? They had 22 scoring chances, 8 high danger chances. That’s not incredible but it’s not a bad game or one without chances.
The post following yours is the issue. Not a lot of goalmouth crashing and blue paint scrambles. I don't think we've forced a goalie to snow angel once.

Skates like stepan.
Absurd take.

Lafreneire looks good. Honestly if Kreider and Mika looked like their normal selves he would absolutely be putting up numbers.

Also had a good PP in the third where he set up Howden in the slot who fanned on the shot, set up Trouba for a one timer on an open net who fanned on it and the set up Howden for a high slot tip and he missed it. Any 3 of those would’ve been an assist if everyone was playing to their abilities right now IMO, each of those plays could’ve been a goal.

Bad goaltending is my least favorite thing in sports, which is why I always got on Hank. And Igor robbed us of a win today. But some of the posts that said "Igor is not an answer", 10 periods into this season is ridiculous. And he actually was not bad at all last game, gave up two unlucky goals and a perfect deflection.

I expect them to whoop Buffalo the next two games so it’s all good.

Rangers will go into Buffalo and crush them, do some recruiting on Eichel, and be firmly back in the mix

Totally agree with you on the the Igor take here.

Disagree. We were by far the quicker team the last 2 games. We just can't finish and the goaltending let us down - again.

I feel like our breakouts and transition look labored. We dump the puck in and generate no forecheck. We are a step slow to loose pucks. I dont think we generated enough good chances. When we did, we decide to pass the puck and misfired on the pass or couldn't handle it. Very frustrating.

Yes it was absurd and agree that it's Mika and kreider that are playing like they got doo doo in their pants.

I definitely see Panarin doing annoying things but he's gotten good results in virtually every game :dunno:

I don't think he's looked as bad as everyone here is saying. He certainly doesn't look MVP calibre like he did last season, as was expected. But his regression thus far is not even close to Kreider and Zbad; Only thing I would say is Panarin needs to shoot more on those good opportunities. He had those passing lanes last year, but they are closing up quicker now and just needs to start ripping them. I think he'll be just fine.
