You can literally see by the TOI and shift breakdown that Cirelli and Stone were the leaned upon guys for defensive matchups after Canada jumped out to the lead early

Marner PR crew is doing some unhealthy coping about this one.

Oh nice. Yeah I didn't look at the stats just going by memory. Makes sense unlike some of the Marner PR crew attempts at duping the masses lol

If you ignore their shift chart, I agree.

Oh wow he didn't really trust Mitch that much at the end of the game there eh. He got like 1 shift up in there by golly.

Lotsa short shifts too, sporadic use. This really just confirms what my eyes saw, thank you. I appreciate you.

Can't read the chart or are you trolling?

I hope trolling.

Anyway, you can carry on alone, sorry the stats don't line up with the nonsense you spew.

It's almost like the coach told him to get the puck moving in the right direction and get off the ice so the real stars can finish the job properly.

Mitch isn't gonna make Canada but he could break Canada with a Pasta type move .. bottom line is Coop will take care of the best interests of our Canadian team when it gets down to da short strokes late in game .. Mitch can't hide from his history .. while most hockey folks were surprised by Mitch's lack of ability to keep up to play I was expecting it as i had mentioned he would end up in a defensive role on da 3rd line which has occurred .. da same will occur again in playoffs with our Leafs .. it is purely a question of stride length and technique which has been an issue for over 20 years now

So Marner didn't get demoted, it just so happens that playing the least amount of minutes at the bottom of the lineup is the 'best fit' for him?

I have about a hundred follow up questions but will sit on it for now. Still one more game to play out!

Marner has 1 more chance to show why Team Canada selected him.

The pressure will be high and the game physical and intense, so we will find out what kind of impact if any Marner can provide.

GO Canada GO !!

Bet they're wishing Marner was American.

Kyle Connor is the most interesting.

Outside of looking like garbage and somehow not getting any mentions I don't even know how he does this:

Team USA shots for/against 5v5 so far:
73-49
Team USA shots for/against 5v5 with Connor on the ice so far:
8-24

Takes a whole lotta bad to have that stat line.....

No one's going to pick on little Winnipeg, though, are they?

Yeah that doesn't really help your case at all you know that right? So as the Finns were closing in on the scoreboard Marner was playing even less time???

He was playing in the last couple minutes and was playing before as well... he had consistent deployment all game...

The Marchand line is the only line who actually didn't play in crunch time.

You are all grasping, anyway, continue.

Imagine making conclusions based upon a couple of All Star games, with unfamiliar linemates.... Laine has three points... surely one of the best players in the NHL. Granlund, third in points, possibly one of the best players in the NHL.

Meanwhile, Bennett has no points, neither does JT Miller, Lindholm, Pettersson, Trochek, Nelson...etc... They must all really suck.

Wish the game as tonight. Feels like this is a needless day off, especially with the league getting back at it early on Saturday. Oh well.

Feels like we are going to see the best Team Canada has to offer tomorrow... Looking for a couple guys to step up their game a little bit. The Only question from me is if the goaltender can also do the same. Excited, as this will be more than likely the best game we see until the Olympics next year.

I find it ridiculous that they didn't give Hill a start, if even just to see what you have in him. We are well beyond that now obviously.

Under no circumstances should Matthews be playing in the four nations. I don't care if he's better in a few games, he shouldn't play there. The back problem is chronic, and these are needless games for us. If he was fully healthy, sure... but he isn't.
This was from January 2nd.

I'm still dumbfounded by the goalie selection in this tournament overall. If it were up to me, I wouldn't have picked any of our goalies
