The thought just occurred to me. Why didn't they just do a 2 Nations best of 5 between Canada and the US?

Interesting idea. But I think you need more teams than two to justify shutting the NHL down for 2 weeks. Also, the wear and tear from a five-game series probably isn't what GM in the league wants.

Logan thompson not starting tonight and US game shows how much inter al politics f*** a team over

Cassidy is Assistant coach of TC and he doesnt have good relation with Thompson after how tenure with VGK ended.

Logan thompson had a .913 SV% at time of 4 nations roster beign determined which was far and away better than Binnington and Hill as well.

He since has gotten up to .920+ range and is a top 3 player for president trophy leading Caps team

No idea how we could Thompson and Chychrun for that matter (for sanheim) off the team when both have been amazing this year

It is easy to say that as North Americans, but other countries play hockey as well.

Also, Canada-US shouldn't play that often, like the winter classic if it happens too frequently the novelty will come off pretty quickly. Most of the reason Saturday's game was unique was the 9-year gap between tournaments.
