I wouldn't mind giving Petri Kontiola a shot.

If he can make the team he fills a big hole, a center with a right handed shot.

If not you let him book it back to the K .

Low risk high reward

I don't think he would cost much and maybe able to slot up and down the line up.

Most likely Miller.

Nash-Step-MSL
Kreider-Brass-Zucc
Hags-Miller-Fast
Glass(ugh)-Moore-RW w/size and speed that can PK or move up the line up and take draws

McD-G
Staal-Boyle
JMoore-Klein

Not sure why the lines are getting messed with.

And I have a feeling they go with 12 forwards and 7-8 D to start the season.

Kreider - Stepan - Nash
Hagelin - Miller - St. Louis
X - Brassard - Zuccarello
Glass - Moore - Mueller

McDonagh - Girardi
Staal - Boyle
Moore - Klein
Kostka, Hunwick

Gorton seems pretty high on Kostka and Hunwick. He also seems high on Mueller.

I think Lindberg wins the job. Defensively responsible already. Very good on face offs. High hockey IQ. Good all around player.

Make a Swedish line.

Hagelin-Lindberg-Fast

Lindberg where?

He is a center. Sather basically said he expects Miller to win the open center position.

Lindberg would be Moore's successor. He should stay in Hartford and continue developing.

If they hope to add more scoring, Fast won't be the guy, either.

Live and die with Miller IMO for the whole season. If its not working out, plenty of options at the trade deadline for support.

Sather and co. praised his game and I think it isn't too farfetched to expect progression from a PPG AHLer. Look at Kreider's progression from the start of last year to the end of it. He didn't even make the team right away.

Yeah we are still a bit thin at Center, definently.
I think the Rangers will go with Miller and see where we are at at the Trade Deadline
and maybe make a deal or 2. We have alot of Contract issues for the 2015 season.

I think the 4th line ends up been Bourque-Moore and Glass

No one seems interested in Petri Kontiola ???

Nothing wrong with giving Miller a shot, I think he slots in well as a Jarret Stoll type. If you put him with speed and line up the sticks where he can throw area passes more than tape to tape passes, Miller is a very effective player.

Has good chemistry with Fast, and putting him with Hags will create a buzz saw of a line where JT plays the role of playmaker and third man high.

You can address via trade if he doesn't cut it.

Lindberg is another possibility and one that has a very sharp high IQ. I think Lindberg will push his way in the line up and push a scrub like Glass out the door.

Don't know much about Mueller, looked good in the AHL finals, but if he is great on draws and can play 4th line RW, that would be ideal.

I am thinking about Adam Hall and Santorelli being UFA possibilities for the 4th line RW for some versatility. Hall is just good on draws and PKs, but isn't multidimensional 5v5, basically a RH Darroll Powe. Santorelli is a glass man.

Another guy I like but doubt could be had is Mark Letestu, RH shot utility guy that can play center or wing.

All in all the Rangers are in good standing, but the farm will be very very thin after this season.

Gorton clearly states here...

http://snyrangersblog.com/coachesgm/jeff-gorton/recap-jeff-gortons-conference-call-earlier-today/
On Mueller, “same kind of thing. He brings versatility, can play center or both wings, kills penalties, has some upside offensively so our guys liked him and we thought that they both will try to make the team and go from there.”

...that Mueller is going to be on the 4th line. Without saying it blatantly. Its a far gone conclusion that is the player they signed to fill the role Boyle filled.

Give Ribeiro a PTO, and see if he behaves during training camp. Slats is always up for giving guys second chances.

Although, I imagine the situation had to have been real bad for Arizona to eat that kind of money. Not to mention Maloney would give Slats the low down on him. Maybe not the best idea.

J.T. Miller is going to be a center on this team in October.

Rangers brass sees Miller as a center. His strengths are built for the position.

He was put on the wing because the center position was filled top to bottom.

Dubinsky was eased into the role. Miller was too. Give him time on the wing to get a feel for the pace of the NHL game.

Richards bought out, Miller steps into the roll he was drafted for.

Well, I wouldn't mind giving up Miller and Staal for a proper center. We don't have time to wait for Miller to develop into the center we need.

Kreider with Zucc and Brass would be magical, please make it happen.

MSL should play with Stepan and Nash now that Richards is out of the picture

Posted this in the 7/1 thread. Probably serves a better purpose here...

The way to solve the center issue is either via trading Staal, which opens up a ridiculous hole on our defense, or, throwing a whole bunch of **** at the wall and hoping something emerges in camp. Kind of like what happened with Stralman a few years back.

Lindberg
Miller
Leino
Mueller (Peter and Chris)
Ott
Loktionov
Miele
Schroeder
Santorelli

Whoever of the people listed below Lindberg and Miller that we can bring on PTO's, bring them in. Tell them they'll be in contention for the 3C spot with the big club if they can earn it. Hope someone sparks chemistry with a couple of our wingers, or has the drive to keep their NHL life alive.

Bolded are the dudes I'd put a focus on.

The more bodies in camp competing for the spot, the better.

I agree with this. Not high on Fast at all.
