If they're rebuilding they'd be trading several veterans away. They aren't rebuilding though. They even took a baseball hat to a couple guys value by extending them instead.

We are well past the point where your claims that the team is rebuilding are as goofy as your claims that Ghost is a #7 or Tortorella is an offensively minded coach.
What's the rush? Draft isn't until late June.

Cut the glut and lets the kids play.
Some might not deserve it but also some people thrive when challenged. Maybe in the AHL they are playing up to their opponents and not to their potential. This season and next don’t matter. Just like none of the past 5 seasons have mattered. Stop doing the same shit.

They've started the same lines for 12 straight games.
Torts shuffles when those lines struggle within games, but only bee the last couple games.
What are you talking about? The lineup might be the same but who plays with who out on the ice never is.

I don't know if you know this but teams are allowed to trade at any time before the trade deadline and after the playoffs are over. Other teams make trades throughout the year.

Been saying this since Hakstol got hired.

They're not playing Zamula or Andrae with Drysdale on a regular basis, wouldn't be prudent.

In three months, things change.

The rush!? They're two f***ing years late already. The clock has ticked away on Michkov's prime for two years. Already. They're way behind the ball as it is.

But yeah, sure, piss away another Lindros or Giroux by not giving them support casts. Sure. Why not.

BTW, when you have to make as many strawman arguments as you do, your position is wrong. Because it cannot stand on its own so you have to argue against imaginary claims.

Or is it your opinion that this management group is only capable of being stupid?

Michkov's prime, like most players, should be from 25-30 or so, or starting around 2030.
If they're targeting 2027-28, then they should have a young team built around him.

They should, yes. They have taken no steps to do so, and so they won't. They need actual talent, not bottom roster players who could hit the middle six if the development process doesn't grind them down too badly.

But sure, no rush when they're already behind.

The most frustrating thing about this game is how they were flying in the 2nd period, totally dominating play, outskating the Kings by a wide margin.

They done this a number of times, but the problem is sustaining that level of play over an extended period of time. But that's part of rebuilding, teaching young players what's required to play at a high level.

Well, could trade the older guys for younger prospects. Tell me you wouldn't trade someone like Laughton for Kakko. Would've been worth a chance.

But hey, continue your braindead defense of this sh!t organization.

Would I trade Laughton for Kakko? No.
I want someone who makes more sense for this team.

I expect some players to be traded, but there is zero rush.
And I'd be looking to garner draft picks in 2026 and 2027.
Going into the 2025 draft, that would just increase your flexibility as well as keep the pipeline full down the road.
Plus, by accepting picks in later years, you can obtain more value in trades.

Players with a HIGH SKILL LEVEL would help immensely!
Can’t go a a full season playing 82 playoff hockey games.
Skating, grinding and dumping pucks only last so long…teams with the most skilled players usually contend yearly!
Flyers need to get into the Top 5 overall drafted players for the next 2-3 years or so…
However Philly management tend to f*** up every vital decision for the last 20 years…
Oh wait….we do have
Michigan Michkov.

The positive angle is that Briere won’t be with the job forever.

He’s likely to take the Fletcher approach of not ruffling any feathers, so the other influential voices won’t kick him out until public pressure gets big enough.

Briere took over in the tail end of the 22/23 season.

If they as an organization continue to miss the playoffs, (which is possible even if they dabble in FA, as their pro scouting is shit) - if they continue to miss, even Briere will see the sunset.

Unlikely but the hope for change is there after. He’s proven himself to just be more of the same as Chuck, in terms of GM ability.

The last 3 GMs, and last 3 coaches have all been shit. Which brings about the usual question of who are the other influential voices when it comes to hiring.
