very random but i was out to dinner w my friends last night and we were talking about video games… i have completely fallen out of love with video games

I have no interest in them, I guess i have limited time to play them now in my 30s since life is different but man, i realized i havent even touched any games the past year or two

This will be a good test for the "new look" Flyers, putting up great metrics the last nine games against a relatively weak schedule.

See if the Frost and Cates lines can sustain their good play the last few weeks.

The schedule has favored the Flyers up until now. Even the West Coast trip isn't a back breaker. Then comes the rest of the year and trouble along with it. The Flyers terrible weakness at center ice should be exposed. Also in goal. Ersson is getting overused again. The Russians aren't ready for any full time NHL play.

I know most of the people here don't see the difference or care, but Kolosov is Belarussian. Also, he's been looking more solid lately, but yeah - still quite volatile.

Not sure about you guys, but I am getting a little tired of rooting for PHI win and the negativity here. I fully understand the rationale behind it / long term thinking etc. but it's possible to have some sort of dissonance, probably.

I'd point out that the three best players, who'd be top players on any team, were drafted #7, #17, and #22. If they have three 1st rd picks between 15 and 25, and 2 2nd rd picks (CBJ and Anaheim are both fading) in the 30s, they can package their own 2nd to move up and still have five picks in the top 40. And if they trade Laughton and/or Risto, at least two more picks in the first two rounds in 2025 or 2026.

With that many darts, they should hit on one or two players who overachieve relative to their draft slot.

Happy for Kolosov. Whatever the nonsense was about him leaving it’s good for his own career he decided to give it a go again.

The Flyers were ripe for some playing time, and he’s making the most of it, it seems.

It’s just frustration. The team has yo-yo’d between bad and average for over a decade and there seems to be no end in sight. We all want the same thing, a team that can challenge for the Cup for multiple seasons. You need quality top 6 centers and a top pair D or 2 to get to that level and the lower you pick in the first round, the harder it is to find them.

The Flyers aren’t one player away from a Cup, it’s more like four or five and the best way to find these guys is with high first round picks. It’s not the only way, but it’s the one with the most chance of succeeding.

Brain understands all this, don't get me wrong. But - as you said - it's been endless mediocrity and seeing some decent point streak makes me happy and subconsciously unwilling to root against them. Again - it's nothing rational in terms of long-term thinking.
